The Geostationary Environmental Satellites - R Series (GOES-R), a collaboration between NASA and NOAA, is the nation’s most advanced fleet of geostationary weather satellites. Right now GOES-16, the first of the GOES-R series, is in operation as GOES East. GOES-17, the second satellite in the GOES-R series, is in operation as GOES West.
