Need to know algal blooms in the Yucatan Peninsula

by rsaade » Mon Mar 21, 2022 10:24 pm America/New_York

Hi!

I am not a scientist nor am I in the Earth Sciences, so please try to explain things as simply as possible for me.

I am interested in accessing data from the satellites that shows me in the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico) or even in different parts of Mexico the current levels of algal blooms.

If possible, I would also like to learn how to see data from other dates so I can make a timelapse of how the algal blooms grow and dissolve over time.

I would like to get both pseudocolor and clorophyll levels.

For your help,

Thank you.

Hello,

You can order (single request) or subscribe (over a period of time) to data by selecting an area on the map.

A general area to work with your data preferences is on the Data Dashboard on the OceanColor web. Navigate to SERVICES > Subscriptions/Orders > Data Dashboard.

From here you can create a region of interest, and/or a subscription to your data.

To order from the Level 3 browser: https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/l3/.

1) Click 'Extract or Download L3 Data' button.
2) Make selections about your data using the dropdown options
3) Click 'Extract' to select an area on the map. Drag a rectangle area of interest across the map or enter N,S,E,W values.
4) Review and Submit your order
