Start date for GCMD Science Keywords

Hi!

I'm work on a list of key events in the history of GIS / spatial data processing. Does anyone know when the GCMD Science Keywords was started?

The release announcements page just shows "Forbidden".

The GCMD keywords were established in 1987 as a result of a NASA-sponsored Earth Science and Applications Data Systems Workshop.
