During the review of Version 2.0 of the Data Product Development Guide (DPDG) for Data Producers (https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/engage/data-producer-resources/data-product-development-guide-producers-v2) prior to its publication, Patrick Quinn had the following comment about Section 4.1 which is an overview subsection of Section 4 titled "Metadata": "CEOS Analysis Ready Data (ARD) - https://ceos.org/ard/ is tending to point toward Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) rather than fully repeating everything, and they *would*, for example, require a DOI for the ATBD to be present in the granule file, since it may be key for valid scientific analysis to know, e.g. how atmospheric correction was done."

Re: DPDG - Section 4.1
The DPDG editing team agrees that DOI could be mentioned in this subsection. Currently, currently only data product DOIs are covered in section 7, and other items like scientific papers and ATBDs can also have DOIs but it will take more explanation to cover them fully. These should be considered for inclusion in the next version of the DPDG.
