GPM monthly global precipitation data V07

by duanyangliu » Sun Apr 27, 2025 9:33 pm America/New_York

Dear administrator,
I have one question about the monthly GPM 07 precipitation data. I found this data in GEE (NASA/GPM_L3/IMERG_MONTHLY_V07). I am confused about the unit of the precipitation measurement. The unit is ‘mm/hr’. Does that mean the precipitation measurements are not cumulated for a month? And what should I do if I want to use the monthly precipitation data?
Thank you for your help.
Best,
Duanyang

To convert this (mm/hr) to accumulated precipitation (like millimeters per month, mm/month), you need to multiply the hourly rate by the number of hours in the desired period. For example, to convert mm/hr to mm/month, you would multiply by the number of days in the month and then by 24 (hours per day).

You could verify your result with Giovanni which provides unit conversion:
