FAQ: Is IMERG half-hourly rainfall cumulative?

by GES DISC - jimacker » Tue May 13, 2025 6:52 pm America/New_York

Answer: Integrated Multi-satellitE Retrievals for Global Precipitation Measurement (IMERG) half-hourly rainfall data is not cumulative. IMERG provides estimates of precipitation rates for each half-hour period. These rates are considered instantaneous snapshots, and users can aggregate them to different time scales (like hourly or daily) to derive cumulative precipitation amounts if needed.
