Global rollback for Atcovi
- Global user: Atcovi (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Hey all! I'm Atcovi, and today I'd like to request for the right of global rollback. For anyone who knows about my checkered past, I feel like I have grown out of it. I feel like I'm out of my troubled past here on Wikimedia, and I have realized my mistakes. I know how to use rollback, since I've used it at Wikibooks, where I'm a sysop and editor at. I'm also a rollbacker on Simple Wiktionary. I also think I've showed a heavy use of rollback as well, being currently active in SWMT work. It's also pretty annoying having to clash with someone, or when someone else has beat me to a revert (we all know that feeling). I also think that this right isn't necessarily a big deal, just one press of a button. I know what vandalism/spam/unconstructive edits are, and can easily identify them. Thank you. --Atcovi (talk) 22:54, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

- Strong oppose Goldenburg111 alias Draubb alias Aaqib A. and who remembers the other names he used certainly has not improved his behaviour. Whenever I see him on the SWMT or stewards channel, he makes less than clueful comments unfortunately. Also a very weird sentence in the rationale about the feeling that someone reverted faster than oneself - this still happens to people who have rollback rights, and it's anyway not a feeling to deplore (oh no, other people are active too?!) --MF-W 15:11, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict.) First of all, I fully agree Atcovi has improved a lot and now certainly can be called a serious and productive editor. Yet, I am not sure Atcovi's crossactivity, and thus also his use of rollback, suffices in any way. I know we have thrown away all activity requirements for global right applicants recently, but the question is if we really want this. I would be happy to support though, if Atcovi re-applied after a longer period of continuous and good SWMT activity. Vogone (talk) 15:13, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
- Support, I still think that giving as second chance to every user who made mistake long time ago is a good practice for m:AGF, look at Atcovi after he became Wikibooks Sysop he's been very active blocking spammer, his crosswiki activity this few month also very good for me ( His theil index is 0.62), again, about concern like sockpuppeting it was 2 years ago, fairly a long time for me, he repenting and become a reformed user, he's also honest and ask for apology about that matters from long time ago, i'd like to see further activity from this user as Global Rollbacker.--AldNonymousBicara? 04:05, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

- Croswikiness.--AldNonymousBicara? 14:26, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
- And in which way is this connected to his (heavy) use of undo across multiple projects? Looking at his CA, it rather seems to me as if the high number of homewikis is the reason for the low index. Vogone (talk) 14:50, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

Global sysop for NahidSultan
- Global user: NahidSultan (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 29 March 2015 19:15 UTC
Hello Mates,
I'm Nahid and I'd like to apply for GS bit. I usually do clean up works on small wikis and active SWMT member since September 2014. Speaking of clean-up, I usually search for duplicate commons file/unused non-free files, useless redirect, empty pages, gibberish, etc. and mark them for deletion. With the GS tool I'd like to do the things myself i'm currently doing and will look into other stuffs as well. You can find me on irc under the nick NahidSultan
in multiple Wikimedia channels including #cvn-sw. I am currently a sysop on bnwiki, bnwikibooks (temporary), commons and meta. I fairly active on every projects i'm holding advance rights and I do know how the sysop bit works. I surely concern about the scope of GS and also concern where I can use the tool and where it shouldn't be used. Now, some of my fellow colleagues might be concerned that I should rather get the GR butten before taking this one. Well, my answer is that I simply don't need GR right now. I occasionally revert vandalism and global twinkle is doing just fine. Please feel free to ask if you've something in mind, I'd happy to answer. Thanks for your time. Cheers, ~ Nahid Talk 19:15, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

- I think NahidSultan's SWMT is exemplary, but I don't understand why so many of the deletion taggings in luxo's tool were declined, e.g. [1], [2], [3]. In all of these cases the deletion tagging seems technically correct, but as a GS just remember to leave such cases to local admins where they exist and are active (I know I'm being hypocritical here...) In the case of the nv.wikipedia tags, another user had already tagged the page for deletion incorrectly so maybe you should have checked history before deleting. I have yet to see a single tagging I disagreed with though. PiRSquared17 (talk) 17:17, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
- If the pages/files are needed locally it is totally fine with me. But the actual fact is that most of the broken pages or files are too much old and no one cares whether they are broken or unused and non-free. Also, most of them are not linked. So at this point i believe it's futile to keep them. Some people may prefer the idea of having files locally but given the size and cost implications, I can see no valid reason (without some exception) for hosting files locally when they are available on commons as a duplicate. I don't know either why they want it to keep while no article is linked with this page. Images like this even if they are uploaded by the website owner might be promotional. Again, if the local community agreed on such cases, I'm okay with that. Though I check the history when tagging but i'll be more careful next time. BTW, This was a clear mistake of mine, I should've seen that's a bot usertalk page ~ Nahid Talk 18:19, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

- Neutral as per now. Other Chinese users requested global rename who are much more active on Chinese wikis too. Nonetheless trustworthy. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 10:23, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
- Not sure about this one. Have you had any experience with renaming before, e.g. by involvement in the community processes concerning user renamings? Vogone (talk) 13:44, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
- Right, even though I technically do not have experience in renaming, I have looked at archives of m:SRUC and read relevant policies like Global rename policy. I believe that I have understood the processes and policies considerably well and would do okay with the tools if I am elected. Jianhui67 talk★contribs 14:37, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

I am not a bureaucrat on any projects. However, I am great at following manuals and have read those related policies. Thanks for your consideration. -Mys_721tx (talk) 06:08, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

- User: Jmvkrecords (talk • edits • logs • UserRights • activity • CentralAuth • email • verify 2FA)
Hi all wikimedians. After a message from Alexmar983, and consider it, I ask the community to evaluate if I can be a global renamer. This is my second request. My motivation is the same I exposed on the last request. Even if I am a bureaucrat since May 2014, due tu my limited experience renaming users (5 in a couple of months), I consider appropriate to give 2 weeks more for discussion, Jmvkrecords ⚜ (Intra Talk) 20:42, 24 March 2015 (UTC).

- What do you think has changed since your last unsuccessful request? Vogone (talk) 13:39, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
- Answer: Hi Vogone. Sorry if my English is so poor, but thank you for asking me. I remember some users were opposed to my candidacy, because I have a short experience renaming accounts. For example, someone said “initial batches of global renamers ought to be highly experienced ones”. I think today is different. Now, there are some experienced users who can provide support to us, the new batch of renamers, dealing with possible issues. Moreover, now I have much more experience as a local sysop and as a local bureaucrat than I did my last request; and I think now is clear that some languages are underrepresented, and I can be helpful answering request in Spanish, French and Portuguese. Best regards, Jmvkrecords ⚜ (Intra Talk) 01:33, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- Involvement seems fine, answer is also okay, so I personally have no objection to this request being approved. Vogone (talk) 10:03, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

Global rename for Keegan
Status: In progress
- Wiki: meta.wikimedia.org (list 'crats • bot policy • summary • 'crats rights)
- User: Keegan (talk • edits • logs • UserRights • activity • CentralAuth • email • verify 2FA)
I'm volunteering to assist as a global renamer, I do not hold 'crat flags on any public wiki, only on otrs-wiki.
As a volunteer, I'm an administrator, Oversighter, and CheckUser on the English Wikipedia. Globally, I'm an OTRS admin. I've been an English Wikipedia admin for nine years, en.wiki OS and OTRS admin for six years, en.wiki CU for for four years.
In my capacity as a community liaison for the Wikimedia Foundation I've become intimately familiar with Global renaming, local renaming policies, and communication with users requesting new names. I would gladly like to help now, and in perpetuity, to help with renaming user accounts. I will not process any request that is related to a direct request or query to me either onwiki, by email, or any other medium, for any reason. Keegan (talk) 10:03, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

- Support, as Philippe says, Keegan is competent to do the task at hand. I'd say, with his knowledge of the SUL work to be done, he also brings a great deal of very specific knowledge and experience that will be useful as we move towards SUL finalisation and immediately afterwards. Global abusefilter-helper for Xaosflux
Status: Done
- Global user: Xaosflux (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Requested so as to access abuse filter data across all projects, working on efficiency tuning primarily on enwiki and preparing to work on a reviewing a bot request to offload abuse filter cycles to post-edit reviews. I have been +sysop on enwiki for 9 years, and was a prior meta +sysop (inactivity on meta). I have no desire to edit filters on other projects directly, thus asking for this read-only group only. Thanks, --xaosflux Talk 01:39, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- Support, looks like a valid reason to request. Unfortunately, per precedent with past requests, you can't be granted this right before 5 days of discussion. Ajraddatz (talk) 20:01, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict.) I have no objection to this, but AFAIK, it's not en.wp editfilter editor who steal/take abuse/editfilter from other wiki, it's abusefilter editor/sysop from other wikis that steal/take editfilter from en.wp.--AldNonymousBicara? 20:04, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- What will you do (if I understand correctly your intentions) if you find an inefficient private filter? --Vituzzu (talk) 20:10, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- FWIW there is only one thing he is technically able to do - inform a local admin. He doesn't have editing permissions with this right. Ajraddatz (talk) 20:45, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- I know, my question actually deals with how will he contact sysops, by which mean ;) I already saw he's a long-standing sysop so I'm pretty sure he'll use the proper secret means of communication. --Vituzzu (talk) 21:04, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- Aah, apologies, I misunderstood :) Ajraddatz (talk) 22:20, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, I will wave the proper magic chicken, specifically would want this to be handled by local sysops. xaosflux Talk 00:07, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- Someone reviewing the global filters from enWP is useful, as things like bajotz and some of our specific xwiki problem users would be useful to update local filters without stewards having to worry about it. — billinghurst sDrewth 12:58, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
