Figlio del ''[[Sayyid]]'' dei B. Asad, Malik bin Aws, apparteneva a una famiglia che fu tra le ultime a convertirsi all'[[islam]] (dopo la [[conquista di Mecca]] (''fatḥ Makka''). Assai ricco, abbamdonòabbandonò la sua vita di lussi per la causa islamica.<br>
