This page hosts requests for a Bot flag on a Wikimedia wiki with no bureaucrats. Please read the instructions before posting a request. Request to remove own permission should be done in SRP.

Please only make request here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community (i.e., don't list your bot here if you haven't consulted the local wiki for at least a week, or whatever local policies dictate). Previous requests are archived.

Instructions

Before posting here

Before posting here, please check the following points:

  1. If there is a bureaucrat on the local wiki (visit Special:ListUsers/bureaucrat on the wiki to check): Please ask them to fulfill your request using Special:UserRights on the relevant wiki.
  2. Before requesting access here, make sure to obtain consensus on the local wiki if there is a community (see the index of request pages). If there is no local community, request on this page with a note to that effect. You can ask local bot flag directly here for some wikis in some cases (see automatic approval).
  3. Remember to read the local project's bot policy. This should be linked from the local bot request page; a few are listed below. DO NOT post your request here without having fulfilled the local policies first, and having waited for at least a week to gauge community opinion. In the case that the project does not have a local bot policy, the global bot policy applies.

Making a request

  1. Place the following code at the bottom of the "Bot status requests" section below:
    === Bot name@xxproject ===
    {{sr-request
    | status = <!--don't change this line-->
    | ___domain =
    | user name =
    | discussion =
    }}
    (your remarks) ~~~~

    You can use following form when applying for global bot status:

    === Global bot status for <yourbotname> ===
    {{sr-request
    | status = <!--don't change this line-->
    | ___domain = global<!--don't change this line-->
    | user name =
    | discussion =
    }}
    {{indent|''Not ending before {{subst:#time:H:i, j F Y (T)|+2 week}}''}}
    (your remarks) ~~~~

  2. Fill in the values:
    • '___domain': the wiki's URL ___domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
    • 'user name': the bot's user name (like "ExampleBot"). Leave it blank if you're requesting access for multiple bots.
    • 'discussion': a link to the local vote or discussion about the bot (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Bots#ExampleBot]]"). Notes: If there is no local vote or discussion, please say so below the template and explain why not. If there's no community, implement the standard bot policy instead.
  3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Global bot status requests

Global bots are enabled on most wikis using the standard bot policy (see list of global bot wikis and global bot access requirements). Request will typically be left open for several days to allow comments. Please add requests at the bottom of this section.

Global bot status for Vagobot

I would like global bot flag for interwiki and redirect. Vago 09:00, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You mean for fixing double redirections ? -- Quentinv57 (talk) 09:08, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Vago 09:33, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've taken a look to your bot contributions again, and now it seems to work properly to me (something that could not be judge¨d in your previous request).
Any opposition ? -- Quentinv57 (talk) 09:55, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I decided to request for global bot status after your advice and I believe to you. Vago 11:12, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The bot has been running on interwiki only for a short period of time and has only 50k contribs on other wikis than its home wiki. In my opinion, this is not sufficient. --Mercy 11:20, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think that it is necessary to consider!Vago 12:04, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, this is also worth consideration. The bot owner does not respect local policies as well as local sysops/bureaucrats and floods recent changes even after being warned. From a global bot owner I would expect maturity and adherence to local policies both of which Vago actually lacks. --Mercy 13:06, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Of course I respect the local policy, but I do not know which of these politicians' rights: "We don't need another autonomous-only bot, but for severals edits can run without flag." and "Your bot is flooding our recent changes. Please wait until it gets approved."? Vago 13:33, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That are local policies. Try to make your bot run on big wikis like enwiki, dewiki, frwiki, itwiki, etc. without a bot flag, and you will see that the problem does not come from Mercy at all. You should run your bot slowely when you don't have the flag. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 13:37, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It seemed to me that the most difficult to enwiki. I think that they have admins and bureaucrats more experience. They wrote me how much edits is needed for the bot status and finally don't saw the problem with interwiki and gave a status. But on cswiki until then, I do not know what else can I do to get bot status. Only with the behavior of Mercy I see that I will wait without the edits at infinite time.Vago 08:12, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Vago, I am afraid that you don't understand us properly. First you were blocked for running an unapproved bot. After some time, a local bureaucrat unblocked your bot and allowed it to edit as long as it edits from time to time and doesn't flood local recent changes. This morning, however, your bot started flooding the recent changes again, and because of that I blocked it again. Is it clear for you now? --Mercy 14:36, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I already understood you well from that moment. Insha'Allah in other wikis, too, will a request for bot status, and I hope will be successful and without your global status will be working (my status will be a global - cswiki). Vago 04:32, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Frankly, I'm now getting concerned about your communication-skills; I understood the words, but the way you string them up doesn't make much sense. What languages are you able to use effectively in case you'd have to respond to complaints? Seb az86556 10:11, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Why are you ask?Vago 05:59, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Bot policy#Bot account: «operators must be available to answer any comments» (in bold). Nemo 15:11, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
On my user page it was revealed at what level I mastered the language.Vago 16:51, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • The account got bot status on several wikis and I suppose the local community has verified the owner knows the local policy, but the comments above show quite clearly that he doesn't know/understand the global bot policy (for instance, despite [1] and Bot policy#Edit throttle and peak hours he claims not to understand the block); therefore, I don't think the flag can be given now. Nemo 15:11, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • From this comments out, seems there is disagreement among admins cswiki, one of admins blocked vagobot, and another unlocks and noted that can be edited without the bot status ... What is unclear? Vago 17:01, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
      • There's no disagreement at all. The admin who unblocked your bot, allowed you to edit as long as you don't flood the recent changes. Three days later, however, you violated this condition and therefore you were blocked again. But I have already said this elsewhere, haven't I? If you ignore local policies and have such problems with understanding what we try to explain to you, I don't think you should be given the global bot flag. --Mercy 09:41, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
        • (en-2)This comment ("We don't need another autonomous bot. For sloving interwiki conflicts you can use bot on cs.wiki without flag. If there will be many edits, flag can be gratnted later. JAn 22. 10. 2011, 20:02 (UTC)") shows that you are either illegally blocked me or there is conflict between you and this admin. Because your thoughts contradict each other.
        • P.S.: If I misunderstood, I would ask a sorry!Vago 13:06, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I repeat my concerns about communication-skills and therefore agree the flag should not be given. Seb az86556 16:06, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • There is not a problem. As I noted above, it seems I will need global status find a common language local Wikipedias (Insha'Allah on cswiki also will be solved the problem) (please and further give the global status to owner bot active only 10 project Wikipedia - God forbid this would be characteristic for Wikipedia.) Thank you!Vago 17:43, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Please create bot user pages on all projects you are editing. There are many projects where your bot has edits, but the operator can not be simply identified. Merlissimo 12:35, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And your localisation and config file seems to be very old. Changes from the last two five weeks are missing. e.g this update Merlissimo 13:37, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of global bot status

Please see the policy for global bots for the requirements that must be met for global bot access.

Bot status requests

Please add new requests at the bottom of this section.

Bot operators making bulk requests, please consider applying for global bot status and helping implement the standard bot policy on small wikis to simplify and streamline the bulk request process.
