È stato membro dei Ratt dal 1983 al 1992, anno dello scioglimento del gruppo. E' morto per overdose di eroina, nel 2002.
Ebbe una relazione con Tawny Kitaen, celebre top model degli anni ottanta, in seguito legata anche a David Coverdale dei Whitesnake.
