@Zanahary: Sorry for the late reply, but it's still stalled. At this point, I think it's highly unlikely I'll receive it anytime soon. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 19:44, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've had a lot of trouble finding it too. Thank you so much for caring—hopefully someday I can access it! Zanahary 19:45, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Zanahary:
It looks like the Bibliothèque nationale de France should have this: https://catalogue.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/cb34507783x
If you aren't able to visit there in-person, they have a link to request a copy of it ("Reproduction sous conditions"), but you might have to get copyright permission from the copyright owner(s), and you'll probably have to pay a fee for the copying and/or usage. (I'm not familiar with the details of this; I'm just summarizing the information at the top of the form.)
Alternatively, it looks like SOAS University of London also has this, with the article catalogued as a book: https://soas.on.worldcat.org/oclc/419466679
Solomon Ucko (talk) 02:10, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Forgot to mention it here, but last week, I asked at User talk:Tom Morris#Book from a library in London, and they should hopefully be able to access the book soon.
No chance for the ILL's, SOAS is not doing ILL requests, and the BnF has not responded, despite a follow up from my university. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 08:05, 5 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Zanahary:: Do you see any chance of this request being fulfilled? It's been open for seven months without resolution. —Bruce1eetalk 07:42, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Bruce1ee, yes I do; it exists and is indexed at a major library. Zanahary 14:34, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, just checking. —Bruce1eetalk 14:35, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think at this point we should mark this as stale. Almost half a year and nobody seems any closer to getting to it then when we started. The French National Library will be difficult for most users to access. Eddie891 Talk Work 06:49, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What would be the benefit of marking it as such? Zanahary 09:30, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We can't leave requests up here indefinitely that are never going to be filled. You'll note at the top of the page that the nominal guideline is Requests unfilled after three months will also be archived. We've already left this one up for well over 2x that time, with no progress made on fulfilling it. We should put it out of its misery at this point. Eddie891 Talk Work 10:57, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It still could be fulfilled, as the material’s ___location is known and in a pretty accessible place, and there is literally no benefit to archiving it. Zanahary 18:03, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps we could ask users at the fr Wikipedia? They have something similar to this, though quite inactive. GoldRomean (talk) 17:59, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

HM (magazine)

{{resolved}} I am trying to get a copy of this album review, both for myself as a potential GAN reviewer and for the nominator:

  • Van Pelt, Doug (Sep/Oct 1997) "Album Review: Third Day - Conspiracy No. 5." HM Magazine. No. 67. ISSN 1066-6923. OCLC 56621413.

I don't have access to the page numbers. The article would be used for Conspiracy No. 5 and Talk:Conspiracy No. 5/GA1 (not yet started). It was previously requested in 2023 here, with no resolution. Thank you! Viriditas (talk) 23:47, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  Doing... via ILL but it might take a while, and I can't promise success. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 01:42, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, couldn't get this. Library said that "journal holding libraries report lacking issue needed." ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 00:38, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Epicgenius: asking humbly for your help again. It seems a scan can be requested through the NYPL. The editor who wrote Conspiracy No. 5 originally asked for the feature article and album review, if you can get both. Averageuntitleduser (talk) 20:27, 9 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Averageuntitleduser, sure. (Also CC'ing @ARandomName123 and @Viriditas). The NYPL requires me to provide page numbers in order to send an online scan request. Without page numbers, I have to go to the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts to scan this in person - it's not a big deal, since the library is close to me, but an online scan is more convenient for everyone involved.
Viriditas, can you confirm that you've tried and failed to find page numbers for this source? If this is the case, I will make a request to go to the library to scan this item myself. – Epicgenius (talk) 20:50, 9 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, I was really re-submitting this request on behalf of User:Toa Nidhiki05, so I think they should respond to it. Viriditas (talk) 21:06, 9 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. @Toa Nidhiki05, if you still need this, please let me know within the next few weeks. – Epicgenius (talk) 04:32, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Epicgenius - yeah, I have tried and failed to find the page numbers. Best I have access to is CMNexus, which notes the album is reviewed there, but there are no page numbers; I tried to reach out to the magazine publisher some months ago but lost contact. Toa Nidhiki05 13:19, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Toa Nidhiki05, sounds good. I'll see if I can go there on Wednesday to scan; otherwise it may have to wait until next week. – Epicgenius (talk) 13:25, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Due to real-life issues (i.e. pouring rain), I couldn't get to the library yesterday. I will scan this tomorrow. – Epicgenius (talk) 20:50, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Toa Nidhiki05, the review Viriditas requested for you is on page 69 of the source mentioned above. I took a picture of the source text. Please send me a wiki-mail so I can send it to you. Epicgenius (talk) 16:16, 15 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For Frank Elbridge Webb, Liberty Party (United States, 1932), and a draft John Zahnd.

I have examined every archive I know of to the best of my ability, contacted the author of the only place I've found it quoted (had a response, they theorized it was either on Google Books or openlibrary.org), contacted the author (provided email, no response). Wherever it is, it may be just under "Other", the name of the series it is a part of. It is the only book in the series that I can't find. If you can find a place to purchase it, I'll take it.

Thanks, apologies if I messed up the formatting, 1brianm7 (talk) 00:48, 15 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, just proof that a copy of the book exists would be good enough for me. If somebody has it, don't worry about finding those specific pages, I'd just like to know that you do. 1brianm7 (talk) 02:25, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
His website suggests that it's the fifth book of the series. The ISBN might be wrong because there's no results on Worldcat. However, this is a self-published book. Therefore, I suggest not using this source. MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 02:34, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I am/was interested in the book because the 4th book of the series had really bad SEO, and so I only uncovered it after spending a few months churning through newspaper articles from the 1920s. It had most of the information I had taken months to find and it was pretty good at citing its sources, so I was hoping that it could put me onto other secondary sources I hadn't found and save me a bunch of time. At this point I am not even certain the book has been published; its Amazon page says 2020 (but currently unavailable), his website says it will come out later this year, and it was also quoted in a single web page in 2023. 1brianm7 (talk) 03:08, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There is a possibility that it was scheduled to be released but it got delayed. Since it was self-published on amazon, perhaps the author removed the book from the website. In either case, I think you'll need to look for different sources as you could not get a reply from the author. MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 03:39, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I've been looking into other options. I am getting access to a bunch of sources on August 13th and I'm currently in contact with the University of Arkansas to see if some of their material can be digitized. And I'm of course still trawling through newspaper articles from the 1930s.

I can be confident that the second I no longer want the book it will become a bestseller known nationwide. 1brianm7 (talk) 04:06, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@1brianm7: at least for now, I don't think this book is accessible anywhere, so I suggest we mark it resolved. I can't find it indexed anywhere besides Amazon, or as you have described, mentioned outside of the Mob Museum and his website. Maybe his website previously said that the book would release this year, but right now, he just seems to list it among his unpublished books.
If it becomes accessible later, you could request it again, but I think you should only use it to try to find other sources. Richardson's first book in the series is cited a good number of times on Google Scholar (and received a good review from a history professor for Choice), but he only self-publishes and the guidance given by WP:SPS is strict. I think he should only be used if he could be shown to have an extraordinary influence in the field of third parties, which I just don't see yet.
