Lightning McQueen
#95 Lightning McQueen, typically referred to by his surname McQueen, and occasionally called "Stickers" by Sally, is the main character and is voiced by actor Owen Wilson. In the beginning of the film, Lightning McQueen, a racing rookie, is an arrogant, talkative car who is very selfish, especially towards his pit crew. He hopes to be the first rookie to win the Piston Cup race and gain a lucrative endorsement deal from Dinoco, but finishes in a three-way tie with perennial runner-up Chick Hicks and veteran Strip "The King" Weathers after losing his huge lead because of two blown tires.
En route to California for a tie-breaker race, he becomes detoured off Route 66 in New Mexico and finds himself in Radiator Springs, a nearly abandoned town which saw its livelihood largely destroyed by the construction of Interstate 40 decades ago. McQueen accidentally destroys the city's main road, and the townsfolk require him to repair it. Over the course of his stay in the town, he comes to form friendships with the residents of the town. He falls in love with a former city-dwelling attorney named Sally, and gains a deep respect and reverence for the town's judge and doctor, an ex-race car named Doc Hudson. These experiences lead McQueen to understand the importance of friendship and love, and that fame is not the most important thing in life.
When he eventually gets to the Piston Cup tie-breaker - with his friends from Radiator Springs as his pit crew - McQueen manages to make it to the finish line before Chick Hicks and The King. But after seeing The King spin out of control and crash onto the pit, and remembering how a crash had ended Doc's career, McQueen stops before the finish line. Instead, he allows Chick to cross and win the cup and decides to help The King cross the finish line in order to retire with dignity. After the King reminds him how he just gave up the Piston Cup, Lightning reminds him of something Doc said, "It's just an empty cup." McQueen gains a large measure of respect from the public for this act. Although Dinoco offers him the endorsement after Chick is jeered by the crowd and denied the opportunity for his reckless cheating, McQueen decides to stay with his original sponsor, Rust-eze, and moves his racing operations to Radiator Springs. Thanks to Lightning's endorsement, Radiator Springs sees a huge boost in tourism, and the town is saved.
His name appears to be a reference to actor Steve McQueen, who was notorious for his love of fast cars (and co-starred with Paul Newman in many films together), and Glenn McQueen, who was one of Pixar's animators, who died of melanoma in 2002.
The number #95 is a reference to the year 1995, when Toy Story debuted.
Lightning also appears at Disney's California Adventure of Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA and Disney MGM Studios of Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, FL along with Mater. They are very unique characters because they are like regular vehicles unlike others.
Mack
Mack is a fictional anthropomorphic 1980s Mack Superliner truck, bearing license plate "RUSTEZ3", voiced by John Ratzenberger. A dedicated member of the Rust-eze Medicated Bumper Ointment Team, Mack pulls Lightning McQueen's trailer to his races. After Lightning's entire pit team quits, Mack is his only friend. When driving Lightning to a three-way tiebreaker race in Los Angeles, California, he drove all night long because Lightning wanted to reach the race before Chick and The King got there, and wanted to hang out with the Dinoco team. When Mack was driving, he fell asleep. The Delinquent Road Hazards came by and threw Mack around the road, causing a sleeping McQueen to fall out of his tralier. When the Road Hazards leave, Mack wakes up, not realizing that Lightning is gone. Then Lightning gets lost and ends up in Radiator Springs, New Mexico. Eventually, Mack finds Lightning in Radiator Springs, making sure Lightning gets to his race in time, under threat of being fired by Lightning's agent Harv. After the race, along with Lightning, Mack moves to Radiator Springs and is shown at Flo's Cafe in the short Mater and the Ghostlight.
Lightning's pit crew
Lightning McQueen's pit crew are generic forklifts who quit following McQueen's refusal to pit for tires which nearly costs him the first race in the movie. One of them, presumably the acting crew chief (his official one having been recently fired), is referred to by McQueen as "Chuck", only to remind him that his name is "not Chuck." Voiced by Mike Nelson, this particular one is identified in the credits only as "Not Chuck."
Harv
Harv is Lightning McQueen's agent. He is heard only twice in the movie, when Lightning McQueen and Mack are en route to the tiebreaker race, by voice. He talks to Lightning McQueen in a speakerphone built into Mack's trailer. A quick savvy talker, Harv was voiced by Jeremy Piven in the US release, but was voiced by Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson in the UK release.
Rusty and Dusty Rust-eze
The Rust-eze Brothers, Rusty and Dusty, are the spokescars for Rust-Eze, the team that sponsors Lightning. Rusty is a 1964 Dodge A100, and Dusty, a 1963 Dodge Dart V10. Rusty and Dusty are voiced by Tom and Ray Magliozzi (respectively) of NPR's Car Talk. The '63 Dart bears an intentional resemblance to Ray's infamous green Dart, named "The Dartre". In a deleted scene shown on the DVD, these two would have had no association with Lightning McQueen other than a chance encounter at a truck stop which Mack was allowed to stop at briefly.
As McQueen is leaving, Rusty and Dusty say "Don't drive like my brother", and "And don't drive like my brother", the Magliozzi brothers' signature line for ending an episode of Car Talk. Another homage to public radio occurs in their names; Rusty and Dusty are the names of two of three cowboys who have appeared in the A Prairie Home Companion segment "The Lives of the Cowboys" (the third, Lefty, appears to have replaced Rusty a long time ago).
Dinoco Team
The King
Strip "The King" Weathers is a Dinoco Blue veteran, anthropomorphic racecar voiced by Richard Petty. He is based on Richard Petty's 1970 Plymouth Superbird, and models Petty's crash in the 1988 Daytona 500[1]He is one of the racecars in the 2005 Piston Cup three-way tie, next to Chick Hicks and Lightning McQueen. He is Dinoco's "Golden Boy" having won 7 Piston Cups (same number as Richard Petty). He gives advice to Lightning McQueen, reminding him that he would be nowhere without his team. McQueen, however, does not listen to him; he instead dreams of having Dinoco as a sponsor.
In his last race, Chick Hicks intentionally smashes into The King with tremendous force, sending him flying into the air, flipping over numerous times before finally landing in the infield grass, badly beaten and dented. Lightning McQueen, about to win the race, brakes just before the finish line, allowing Chick to win. He then turns back to help The King, pushing him from behind to the finish line so he can retire with dignity, having completed his last race. The King then points out that he just gave up the Piston Cup, but Lightning says that an old race car (Doc Hudson) once told him that "It's just an empty cup." A running gag through out the movie, is that Strip Weather's tail fin is standing at angle or straight up in the air.
Mrs. The King
Mrs. The King (as Mater calls her) is a 1972 Chrysler Town and Country station wagon, and is The King's wife. She is voiced by Lynda Petty, Richard Petty's real-life wife. She's identical to a car in which the Pettys drove themselves and their children to the races during the 1970s. During the races, she sits in a special VIP booth with Dinoco's sponsor Tex, cheering her husband on.
Tex
Tex, voiced by Humpy Wheeler, is the gold 1975 Cadillac Coupe de Ville owner of Dinoco. After the tie-breaker race, he offers Lightning the coveted Dinoco sponsorship, which Lightning declines in favor of staying with Rust-eze, his current sponsor. To this, Tex replies that he respects Lightning's decision, but to let him know if there's anything he needs, he should let Tex know. Lightning takes Tex up on this by arranging for Mater to have a ride in Dinoco's helicopter.
Pit Crew
The king's pit crew are generic forklifts with the dinoco logo on the sides. Their names are unknown.
Helicopter
The helicopter is a transport model with the Dinoco logo on its left and right side, and king in various places. In the movie, Lightning asks Tex to let Mater ride in the helicopter, its name is unknown.
Trucks
The Dinoco trucks are generic 2005 mack trucks. Their names are unknown.
Trailers
One trailer is the kings transport, the other one is stage/tent. Both trailers have Dinoco and King written on them. They also have 43 on both sides.
Dinoco Girls
The Dinoco girls are models for Dinoco who stand on the stage. They are Mazda Miatas with a single blue feather attached by a blue sequin.
Hostile Takeover Bank team
Chick Hicks
Chick Hicks is the main antagonist of the film, voiced by actor Michael Keaton. He is described as a generic and boxy 1980s American stock car, though an early design was that of an old model Chevrolet stock car that was dumped because GM disliked it.[2][3] He bears a stunning resemblance though to a 1980's Buick Regal. His primary sponsor is Hostile Takeover Bank, represented by "htB", but his sides and hood are covered with logos for numerous other companies. Along with the sponsors, he has his number 86 on his side that refers to "86-ing" someone, as in throwing them out.[4] The number 86 also refers to 1986, the year Pixar debuted its very first film, Luxo Jr.. Chick's grille is positioned to resemble a mustache, and is actually referred to as a mustache twice in the Cars video game. His personality is designed as a fast driving maniac who is always out to win, even if it means driving illegally.[5] He constantly shakes and vibrates, but still drives beyond the abilities of this model.[3]
In the film, Chick Hicks is the perennial runner-up in the Piston Cup. He has spent most of his career in the shadow of The King and also has to contend with up-and-coming young star Lightning McQueen. In the first race, The King and Lightning finish tied with Chick for first in both the race and the Piston Cup, leading to a one-race playoff to determine the champion. Chick, like Lightning, hopes to win so he can take over The King's spot with sponsor Dinoco and during Lightning's sojourn in Radiator Springs, Chick is able to rally support from many of Lightning's supporters. During the scene before the "big race" Chick is seen on the scren with his crew, fans, and the Miata twins, Mia and Tia. Later at the final race, Chick knocks The King out of the race, determined to at least not finish behind him again. Lightning brakes just short of the finish line, allowing Chick to win the race and the championship. Despite winning the race, Chick is not treated as a hero, but is booed and jeered at by the media and the fans. Chick flees, saying, "This is the start of the Chick era!" He is also denied the Dinoco sponsorship, which is offered to Lightning instead, although he declines for loyalty reasons.
Chick Hicks's Pit Crew
Chick Hicks' pit crew is a group of forklifts (all wearing false moustaches similar to Chick's) who mainly give gas and change tires for Chick, with a Dodge Ram pickup as the Crew Chief, providing important tactical information on the other racers (i.e., telling Chick that Lightning had blown a tire in the first race). They make fun of Guido before he demonstrates his lightning-fast tire changing, causing the forklifts to drop their false moustaches in disbelief, the largest of them only doing so when Guido says "Peet stop", one of his few English lines in the film. Their names are unknown. His trailer is briefly seen, and his driver is not seen at all.
Radiator Springs Populace
Mater
Mater is an anthropomorphic tow truck voiced by Larry the Cable Guy. Along with the movie, he stars a short, Mater and the Ghostlight, and acts as an announcer in the Cars video game. He speaks with a thick Southern accent with a bit of hillbilly twang, and often misspells words or uses incorrect syntax. Mater is also the self-proclaimed world champion backwards driver. He attributes his skill to his rear-view mirrors and his own philosophy. In the movie, Mater befriends and supports McQueen all throughout his adventure in Radiator Springs. He shows McQueen around the town, doing various things as "tractor tipping".
Mater is based on a 1951 International Harvester (IHC) Pickup truck, converted into a tow truck[6][7], but looks more like a mid-'50s Chevrolet[8]. His color was originally baby blue, but over the years, he has rusted into a light brown/orange color, with some of the blue still showing through. He is missing his hood and has only a single headlight (his right). His license plate number is A113. His final personality was based on his voice actor, Larry the Cable Guy, and he uses many of Larry's catchphrases, including "Git-R-Done" during the final race sequence and "I don't care who you are; that's funny right there" during the tractor tipping scene, among others.
Mater also appears with his buddy Lightning at Disney's California Adventure of Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA and Disney's MGM Studios of Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, FL for meet and greets. The 2 friends are very unique characters because they are real vehicles instead of others.
Doc Hudson
Doctor Hudson Hornet (better known as "Doc Hudson" or simply "Doc") is voiced by actor Paul Newman. Doc, once known as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet (#51), was once one of the most famous racecars to have ever lived, holding three Piston Cup titles and the record for most wins in a single season -- a record that remain unbroken at the time of the film -- 27. All that changed for the famous Hornet when a terrible crash on the track at the qualifying race in 1954 saw him put out for the season. Upon his return, he was received with a complete absence of fanfare and told that he was a has-been who had been passed up for the next rookie in line. Keeping a picture of the wreck that ended his career from an old newspaper, he uses it as a reminder to never return to the life that nearly destroyed him.
Jaded by the racing scene, he left that world, apparently taking out time to study medicine. The famous #51 disappeared into obscurity, leaving many wondering where he had gone. He instead opted for a simple navy blue paint job and the life of a doctor in the tiny town of Radiator Springs, the "shining jewel" of the mother road - Route 66. He runs Doc's clinic. As times changed and the town got bypassed in favor of Interstate 40, Doc stayed on, even when the population had dwindled to a meager dozen or so residents. He is respected, well-loved, and serves not only as the town's physician, but as its judge, as well. After meeting the young hot shot Lightning McQueen, Doc found himself seeing far too much of himself in the #95 rookie. Doc called the news and press who rushed over in droves and took McQueen on to the Piston Cup. Seeing how disheartened everyone was, Doc took back his old #51 colors to become the young racer's pit crew chief. By the end of the film, Doc has opted to keep his racing colors and becomes a trainer as well as crew chief to the young McQueen.
Sally
Sally Carrera is a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera voiced by Bonnie Hunt. She also appears in the Cars video game in which she is a playable character. In the UK cars magazine Top Gear, Sally was included in the magazine's list of the 10 sexiest cars in the World.[9] Sally, Lightning McQueen's love interest, is the town attorney of Radiator Springs. She came to the town several years before when she found that the big city life was not to her liking and she was never really happy there but one day she made a run for it. She drove for quite some time until she finally broke down in front of the Wheel Well Motel. She was fixed up by Doc Hudson and taken in by Flo. Sally then fell in love with the town, and the land around it, and never left. Sally ran the Cozy Cone Motel. Later, she and Lightning reopened the Wheel Well.
The tattoo that Sally sports below her spoiler is the same as the logo that is first up in neon on Ramone's Body Shop in the "Cruisin'" Scene
Luigi
Luigi is a 1959 Fiat 500, a Ferrari fan, and has followed racing his entire life. His license plate reads 445-108, which is latitude and longitude for a Ferrari dealership. Luigi owns a tire shop, Casa Della Tires, in which he only sells Italian tires. His tire shop is known for its "Leaning Tower of Tires" which looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. His assistant is an Italian forklift named Guido. Inside his shop are many framed pictures of Ferrari Group C endurance racers from various points in history. He and Guido do not respect Lightning McQueen when he came to Radiator Springs, because he was not a Ferrari and claimed to not know any Ferraris. But later in the film, Lightning surprises Luigi and Guido by telling Michael Schumacher, a Ferrari racecar, that Luigi and Guido's store was the best place to get tires.
For the Italian version of the film, Luigi was voiced by comedian Marco Della Noce; interestingly enough, one of Della Noce's most popular characters was "Oriano Ferrari", a parody character meant to represent the leader of Ferrari's pit stop crew.
He is voiced by Tony Shalhoub.
Guido
Guido is an anthropomorphic forklift, works with him at Luigi's Casa Della Tires, and is Luigi's best friend. The only language Guido can speak and understand fluently is Italian. He is voiced by Guido Quaroni and can perform a professional pit stop by himself in seconds. Many people claim that Guido knows only two words in English, "Pit stop" but pronounced "Peet Stop!". He also says "Okay" in the film. But since the other Radiator Springs populace talk to Guido in English, he understands what they are saying, even though he usually speaks Italian. He also said "Uh, oh" in the video game.
In order to preserve the "language barrier" gags between Guido and the other characters in the Italian dub, his lines (and the other cars' lines in Italian) have been rendered in the regional dialect of Italian spoken in the town of Modena, home of the Ferrari car manufacturer and racing team.
Coincidentially, or as a pun by the authors, the name "Guido" is a perfect homonym for the Italian inflected verb meaning "I drive".
Ramone
Ramone is a 1959 Chevy Impala lowrider who owns the Ramone's Paint and Body Art store, where he paints himself and other cars, including Lightning McQueen later in the film. His license plate reads "L0 N SL0", which is a reference to his catchphrase, "low and slow". He is married to Flo, whose restaurant is next door to his store. Ramone is usually depicted purple with a yellow and orange flame job, but throughout the film he changes color every morning to keep his skills sharp, since he gets no customers. The only customer Ramone has refused to paint was his future wife Flo, his reason being that he couldn't paint a classic (shown in a deleted scene). That was how Ramone and Flo fell in love.
Ramone is voiced by Cheech Marin.
Flo
Flo is a car who owns Radiator Springs's only gas diner, "Flo's V-8 Café" and is married to Ramone, the town's body artist. Her license plate reads "SHOGRL", the same as the license plates applied to many Motorama show cars, and an obvious pun on the term "showgirl". Flo's coat is light green. She is voiced by Jenifer Lewis. She is a Motorama showcar, and came to Radiator Springs during a national tour in a deleted scene.
Sheriff
Sheriff is an anthropomorphic 1949 Mercury Police Cruiser, bearing Carburetor County license plate 001, voiced by Michael Wallis. Sheriff is painted in the classic law enforcement black and white, with a single red beacon, two sirens, and curb feelers. Sheriff was the first Radiator Springs resident to appear in the film and was also the first to meet Lightning McQueen during a police chase when McQueen was speeding through the town, trying to find Mack. He later befriends Lightning McQueen, even offering to give him a police escort to California, and joins his pit crew for the championship race.
Fillmore
Fillmore is an anthropomorphic Volkswagen Type 2 (VW Bully) voiced by George Carlin. Fillmore's license plate reads "51237", which stands for May 12, 1937. This is the birthdate of George Carlin, the actor who lends his voice to Fillmore. He owns an organic fuel shop within the town of Radiator Springs, and is a stereotypical hippie, with his license plate positioned to resemble a soul patch. In the morning, when Sarge, who lives next door, plays Reveille and raises the American flag, Fillmore interrupts Sarge's song with Jimi Hendrix's rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner. This is much to Sarge's irritation, as he shouts at Fillmore; "Will you turn that disrespectful junk off?!" to that Fillmore says "Respect the classics man, it's Hendrix."
Sarge
Sarge is an anthropomorphic Willys jeep voiced by Paul Dooley. Sarge's license plate number is 41WW2, a reference to World War II, which the US entered in 1941. Sarge's full name is 'Sarge Armyson'. A veteran with a military green paint job, he appears to be a cross between a Willys MB and a Willys CJ-2A. He bears a slightly stylized Sergeant Major (E-9) insignia on his sides. Living in Radiator Springs, a quiet town on Route 66, next door to Fillmore, he runs a surplus store, named "Sarge's Surplus Hut" and mows his lawn twice daily. At the end of the film, he runs an SUV boot camp, called "Sarge's SUV Boot Camp", where he is briefly seen bickering with a poser Hummer H2 that has never actually been off-road.
Lizzie
Lizzie is a 1923 Ford Model T voiced by Katherine Helmond. Her license plate says "MT23" because of her model. She is the widow of Radiator Springs' founder, Stanley, and the elderly owner of a roadside souvenir and accessory shop. When Lightning shows how much he contributed to the town's lighting, she says to the Stanley monument outside of Red's firehouse, "I wish you could have seen this". She has gone a little bit senile because she is so old, and has a crush on Lightning McQueen.
The name "Lizzie" is a reference to "Tin Lizzie", the popular nickname of the Model T.
Red
Red, sometimes called Big Red, is a mid-1960s Pirsch fire engine, bearing Carburetor County license plate 002. He is shy, emotional, big-hearted, and has a good sense of humor. For some reason he doesn't speak but he seems to forgive easily. He spends most of his time watering his flowers and washing things, such as the statue of Stanley next to his fire station. Red was voiced by the late Joe Ranft, who also was a Pixar animator. He also became memorable because, when something happens that he doesn't like, he starts crying and drives behind a pile of wood, in which a door is heard slamming and tyres fall over (like when McQueen left, Sheriff denied being unhappy McQueen had left and was glad he was gone, then Red did this)
Frank
Frank is a Kubota orange combine harvester that resembles a bull, and the guardian of the tractors. After Lightning McQueen's first encounter with Frank, Lightning has a nightmare that he, The King, and Chick Hicks are beaten by Frank in the tie-breaker race. Chick actually does not even finish the race, since he is shredded and his remains are seen coming out of Frank's straw chute.
Tractors
The tractors (resembling cows) appear when Mater and Lightning go tractor tipping (similar to cow tipping), and also in a stampede through the middle of town, likely provoked by Mater's antics. They also appear in the nightmare McQueen has about Frank winning the Piston Cup, wherein Lightning is surrounded by the tractors, one of which licks him. According to Mater, they are quite dumb. They are American 1950s Chewall tractors, as evidenced by the fact that the word "Chewall" is written on them. This may also be a pun on the fact that cows apparently spend most of their time chewing, and on the real-life Farmall brand of farm machinery. A scene shows that they have udders.
Other Cars
Darrell Cartrip
Darrell Cartrip is an announcer at the Piston Cup races. He is a 1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. He was a former Piston Cup Racer due to his looks & wheels. Voiced by Darrell Waltrip, his character being an obvious pun on his name. He raced a 1977 Chevy Monte Carlo with stacked headlights. He often raced with the number 17. Darrell is fond of colorful flame paint schemes. Cartrip utters "Boogity boogity boogity!" as the tiebreaker race starts; the real-life Darrell also utters this at the start of every NASCAR race and during some restarts. Also, right after the multicar wreck starts, Darrell announces "Trouble!"; this is usually said by NASCAR commentators during or after a wreck. Cartrip also appears in the video game as the sole announcer, as well as being playable in VS. and Arcade mode.
Bob Cutlass
Bob Cutlass is an announcer at the Piston Cup races and friend of Darrell Cartrip. He is a Oldsmobile Aurora. Voiced by Bob Costas, who is well known for his various works on NBC. Although the name is a reference to the Oldsmobile Cutlass, which is said to be the best-known model name for the General Motors division that was discontinued after 2004, he is actually shown as a Oldsmobile Aurora. Just like Darrell Cartrip, the name "Bob Cutlass", is a pun on "Bob Costas", his voice actor. However, unlike his broadcast partner Cartrip, Cutlass does not appear in the video game.
Marco
Marco is a security car who appears before the tie-breaker race with Fred, refusing to let the rusty car in without a garage pass but Marco said to Fred "Hey you! Don't you go in without a garage pass!", even after Mario Andretti 'recognizes' him by reading the license plate name tag Fred's wearing. He is a 2002 Ford Expedition SUV. Voiced by Phil Lorin. There are several other SUVs that look just like him, but with different voices, all serving as security during both Piston Cup races in the film.
Mia and Tia
Mia, voiced by Lindsay Collins, and Tia, voiced by Elissa Knight, are identical twin Mazda Miata sisters who are Lightning McQueen's self-proclaimed #1 cheerleaders. However, after Lightning's disappearance, the twins quickly become the #1 cheerleaders of Chick Hicks. At the end of the movie, they are seen booing Chick along with the rest of the crowd over Chick's act of cheating which nearly killed Strip "The King" Weathers. The twins soon become #1 cheerleaders of McQueen once more. After the first race in the beginning of the movie Mia and Tia flash their head lights at McQueen, making an innuendo to the phrase "flashing" when a woman exposes her chest to someone.
Fred
Fred is one of the many fans in the Rust-eze tent at the beginning of the movie. He's also seen at the beginning of the final race and during the credits. A running gag in the movie is that whenever he get's excited, his front bumper falls off. Another running gag is that he appears to be unaware that his license plate reads "Hellomynameis" and then underneath, "FRED", and he is thrilled beyond belief when McQueen and later Mario Andretti address him by name. Voiced by Andrew Stanton. A 1962 Rambler Ambassador.
Van and Minny
Van and Minny are husband and wife. They get lost and try to find their way back to Interstate 40, but pass through Radiator Springs without buying anything and eventually wind up off-road. Van is apparently arrogant, as he claims that he has a global positioning system (GPS for short) in himself, and both of them are equipped with car alarms, which they arm after their encounter with Lightning McQueen when he begs them to call for help. After the end of the credits, we find out that Van and Minny have ended up somewhere lost in the desert, having not asked for directions, and Van has almost driven to insanity. Their names combined is a pun on "minivan".Van looks like a 1999 Toyota Sienna and Minny is either a 1997 Ford Windstar or a 1996-2000 Dodge Caravan. Minny is voiced by Edie McClurg with a Minnesota accent. Van is voiced by Richard Kind.
The Delinquent Road Hazards
The Delinquent Road Hazards are a group of four Street Racers that cause trouble on the roads. The four of them cause Mack to falter, sending McQueen out of his trailer. They return in the Cars video game to cause trouble once again. The members include Boost, the leader, DJ, who uses loud speakers, Wingo, a Japanese right-hand drive car, and Snot Rod, who shoots flames out of his exhaust pipes when he sneezes. DJ looks like a customized Scion xB. Boost could be a Mitsubishi Eclipse or a Dodge Viper. Wingo is probably a Nissan Silvia, or a 2000 Honda Civic. Snot Rod is a Plymouth Barracuda, in Vitamin C Orange gloss paint. Of all of them, Wingo is argubuly the most popular of the Delinquint Road Hazards due to his playable appearance in the Cars video game.
Pixar cameos
Various characters from other Pixar films cameo during the movie. They take on the shape of cars while keeping their distinctive features. These include Woody (as a Sheriff Woody station wagon), Buzz, Hamm and a Pizza Planet delivery truck from Toy Story, Mike Wazowski and Sulley from Monsters, Inc, and Flik, P.T. Flea, and the circus bugs from A Bug's Life.
