Global sysop for Savh

Hi, I'd like to re-apply to the Global Sysop group. I previously was one from July 2011 onwards, nearly ten years ago. I was later elected steward in 2014, and resigned from that position in 2017. The last couple of months I have been quite active again as a part of the SWMT (now using SWViewer), and I think having access to the Global Sysop toolset would be beneficial to intervene in certain situations without the need to call on others for deletions and blocks. As mentioned in my past requests, I'm bilingual Dutch & Spanish, and understand a few other Latin and Germanic languages. Aside from my global activities, I'm a sysop on the Spanish Wikipedia and on the Spanish Wikibooks. Savhñ 22:36, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Global rename for MemicznyJanusz
- Wiki: meta.wikimedia.org (list 'crats • bot policy • summary • 'crats rights)
- User: MemicznyJanusz (talk • edits • logs • UserRights • activity • CentralAuth • email • verify 2FA)
Hello there! I'd like to request global rename permissions to help our polish global renamers (because there's only one active polish renamer). I've read the global rename policy and familiarised myself with other pages connected to the topic (and past requests). I'm mostly active on the Polish Wikipedia, where I'm somewhat experienced in looking out for names violating our local policies. --MemicznyJanusz (talk) 10:30, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
- Not ending before 22 February 2021 10:30 UTC
- Strong support. User is active in reporting users who violate local username policy and ilactively engages in leaving notes for them on their user talk pages. He will be useful in dealing with a local queue, and in time (when he gets cross wiki experiences) might even be eligible to do renames in global queue. Nadzik (talk) 10:55, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
- Strong support Per Nadzik endorsement. Trusted user locally, active in renaming, the lack of sysop doesn't trouble me with strong local endorsement. Thank you for volunteering. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 10:57, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
- Support As far as I can see from contributions on plwiki, MemicznyJanusz sends messages to inappropriate usernames and if necessary, reports to admins. Most reports were also processed by the admins. If Nadzik trusts, no problem for me. --Uncitoyentalk 11:08, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

Global rename for Geonuch
- Wiki: meta.wikimedia.org (list 'crats • bot policy • summary • 'crats rights)
- User: Geonuch (talk • edits • logs • UserRights • activity • CentralAuth • email • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 7 March 2021 07:16 UTC
Hello everyone. I would like to help users through renaming process especially users by Thai community. I understand that no global renamers who have Thai language skill at this time (see User talk:Geonuch#Renaming) and my home wiki (Thai Wikipedia) has a frequent problem that needs to request for changing username (such as, [1], [2], [3], [4], etc.). I'm active on many Thai Wikimedia projects and have sysop right on thwiki, thwikibooks, and thwikisource. I have understood global rename policy and hope that I will be of benefit of the community. Best regards, --Geonuch (talk) 07:16, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

- Support CU and sysop on thwiki, can be trusted with global renamer tools. Jianhui67 talk★contribs 07:20, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Support He/she is an admin on many Thai wikis. There are dozens that you done blocks per username policy on home wiki. New admin on home wiki but it isn't no problem. I guess there is no global renamer who knows Thai very well. He/she can help with renamer requests for Thai wikis firstly. --Uncitoyentalk 10:28, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Support Per usual standard that a sysop in a medium / large wiki that is not under a cloud locally can be automatically entitled to the tool. They are a CU in th and th is a large wiki. That's fit my usual criterion. Thanks for volunteering. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:00, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

Requests for global IP block exemption

Global IP block exempt for 永愛所有小貓咪
- Global user: 永愛所有小貓咪 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Discussion: I sometimes need to go back to mainland China, but I need to check some information in Wikipedia, in mainland China cannot use it, it’s slow and expensive to use data.
<Add an explanation here>, thanks, --永愛所有小貓咪 (talk) 13:01, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
- @永愛所有小貓咪:你好,如果只需要编辑中文维基,去w:zh:WP:RFR申请即可,这里的权限是用于编辑维基数据等网站的。(just explaining if they just want to edit zhwiki they can apply for local IPBE.)--Super Wang hates PC You hate, too? 09:56, 12 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Super Wang Any updates on the local IPBE situation. I didn't see any zhwp IPBE granted. As the requestor is just saying Wikipedia, we cannot assume it is only zh, they might be meaning en (which they also have some edits). Overall I don't see a GIPBE unreasonable per normal GFW situations. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:35, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Camouflaged Mirage: User has not reqested for local IPBE yet, maybe they don't know how to. I don't think it's unreasonable to grant them GIPBE either. As GIPBE doesn't make one immune of local IP block,
I'm suggesting them applying for a local IPBE flag additionally.--Super Wang hates PC You hate, too? 11:43, 15 February 2021 (UTC)- Given that this user edited today, they don't seem to be affected by local IP blocks, I won't suggest local IPBE. --Super Wang hates PC You hate, too? 11:45, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Super Wang I will guess the local IPBE can be applied if there is a local block issue as they seems to suggest it's just a global block they need to exempt from. Will appreciate your help to guide the user on local situation, or I can leave them a message if needed but since you are on it, let me defer to you first. Thanks. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:45, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Camouflaged Mirage: I noted that this user uses Traditional Chinese, which indicates they are from HK, Macau or Taiwan (but they didn't disclose). I guess they don't need to bypass GFW, just need to evade global IP block, so GIPBE is enough. And yes, I've been enthusiastic about helping people for local IPBE, so I will help them apply for local IPBE flag in case they are in need. --Super Wang hates PC You hate, too? 11:52, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. @Super Wang So to make it easier for stewards: in conclusion, this user doesn't need zhwp IPBE but GIPBE. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 13:07, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Want to run scrips from my Hetzner server but it is currently on IP block. If hole 5.9.0.0/16 or just 5.9.97.203 becomes removed from the block list I would not need this right for me and my bot. --GPSLeo (talk) 21:45, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- @GPSLeo Granted for your bot account. Why is it necessary for your personal account to edit from Hetzner infrastructure?
- Btw, I recommend looking into Toolforge, an infrastructure provided by the Foundation which can be used for running bots from the cloud. It is not blocked at any Wikimedia wiki, and it allows you to use database replicas as well if you wish. If you have any questions about Toolforge, feel free to let me know.

Renew global-interface-editor for Sophivorus
- Global user: Sophivorus (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Hi! I'd like to request a renewal of my global-interface-editor permission. I've had the permission for about three years mainly because I'm the main developer and maintainer of the ProveIt gadget (used in over 40 wikis). I'm also the main developer and maintainer of the Transcluder and Excerpt modules (used in over 20 wikis) that occasionally require me to edit protected pages, as well as some smaller tools on Wikiversity and the Spanish Wikipedia. I haven't been too active lately but I was very active earlier last year and I expect a similar period of activity sometime this year. Thanks for your consideration!
