Finding a source

Tips for finding a source yourself
Main page: WP:Find your source
  • Send a request to the author(s) of research papers for a copy of their paper by email.
  • Check what sources are available to you in The Wikipedia Library – editors active for at least six months with over 500 edits, at least 10 of them in the last month, and with no active blocks have immediate access to the Wikipedia Library Bundle.
    • Available databases in the bundle include: Gale, EBSCO, JSTOR, Oxford and ProQuest
  • Consider applying for access to additional Wikipedia Library sources at The Wikipedia Library Card Platform.
    • Additional databases include: Newspapers.com, NewspaperARCHIVE.com, Project MUSE and Taylor & Francis
  • Search for periodical titles in the Wikipedia Library database index at The Wikipedia Library/A–Z.
  • Check on Google Books, or your local library or national library may be able to obtain it through an interlibrary loan or subscription.
  • Search Google Scholar for archived copies of journals in institutional repositories.
  • Check whether your alma mater's library offers electronic document delivery services for alumni, if applicable.

Note that sites like Library Genesis (LibGen) and Sci-Hub offer direct, free access to a very large range of publications, but there are legal questions around their use and neither the Wikimedia Foundation nor the Wikipedia community endorses them.

Making a request
  • A request may be an open question or you may ask for a specific journal, article or work.
  • All kinds of sources are possible here: newspapers, magazine article, databases, encyclopedias, court decisions, laws, books, etc.
  • We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright. Please ask for specific pages that relate to the article(s) you need them for.
  • You may contact research helpers directly or make a request on this page.
  • To receive email without disclosing your email address publicly, configure your email in Special:Preferences.
  • Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, and date or identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc.
  • Indicate which Wikipedia articles are being improved.
  • Once a request has been fulfilled add the {{Resolved}} template.
  • Filled requests are archived.
  • Requests unfilled after three months will be archived.

Fulfilling a request

  • Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests.
  • Indicate which part or parts of the request is being handled so others do not duplicate your work.
  • Notify (mention) the requester using {{ping|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}.
  • You can:
    • point to a pre-existing electronic document by giving its URL ( http://... )

The reason for me believing so is that it was mentioned in The One magazine that PC Review also expressed interest in this game. Unfortunately, most 1995 issues of this magazine are unavailable online.
  • "Worms". PC Games (8). United Kingdom. 1995. ISSN 1351-0290. — there could be a preview of Worms in this one too as it was also mentioned in The One as one of the magazines that participated in testing the early version of the game. It shut down before the game was released, but there still may be a preview, presumably in its March 1995 issue (008).

Hello guys, looking for particular articles from some old game magazines. I'm writing an article about Worms 1995 video game from scratch in the Russian Wikipedia (it is going to replace the existing stub and become featured). I was able to find most of the needed sources online, but some are unavailable, like these. Maybe I will add more articles from other magazines to my request some time later, but for now it's just what you see.

@Coolak: Amiga Action issue 78, January 1996 is available at the Internet Archive here. PC Games issue 8, March 1995 is available here, but I don't see any mention of "Worms". The I/A does have other PC Games issues from 1995 here that you may want to check. Game Informer, June 1996

I am hoping that someone has a copy of the June 1996 issue of Game Informer. I am looking for information pertaining to the game Descent II, especially the review found in this issue according to the magazine's archives. Any other pages related to Descent II that may be encyclopedia-worthy would be great, but I would at least like to find out for myself whether the review has anything unique to say, or whether it is essentially just a repeat of the 23 reviews listed in the reviews infobox. Massive request - Latin American music charts of the 2000s decade

I'll be honest, this is going to be a pretty big request. I am requesting articles that list the top 10 most played songs of the week on Latin American countries in the 2000s decade. My Newspaper.com and Newspaperarchives.com accounts have expired and I am currently awaiting approval. From the Newsbank search, the earliest is from July 2003 with the publisher being named "Latam". The articles are titled "diez canciones mas populares" and from 2006 onwards is "10 canciones mas populares". Except for one article dated December 31, 1999, I cannot find articles for music charts prior to July 2003. If possible, I would prefer to get the articles zipped by year to make it easier to sort. New York World

I'm looking for an article from 1865 in the New York World. the secondary source I have a picture of gives some clues to the article: A reporter visited the Pompey stone at the Albany Institute of History and Art with a "Dr. O'Callaghan" (presumably Edmund Bailey O'Callagha), Henry C. Murphy, and a James Hall. It includes the quote "It was found very carefully put away in a glass case and covered with a dust that indicated that for some years, at least, its quiet had not been disturbed." and "It must be remembered that this stone was found when there was no pecuniary inducement for the forging of such relics." That's all I know, I no longer have the secondary source. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first book seems to be hard to find, I haven't found any OCLC of it and it isn't in Google Books, so it might not be possible to access it.

I would like to have full access to these books and see what I can take from them to add to articles related to the Istro-Romanians. Newspapers sources at Mike Segal

Now this will be an odd request:

There are a couple of sources in the linked article which are from an Atlantic City newspaper. I have removed links, because they appear to be to a service which is likely hosting copyright violations, as there is no way to verify whether the legitimate rights holders has provided consent for this. Since the citations are still present, as is, and since if you're unscrupulous you can go back in the article history and look at what the sources look like; somebody with more free time AND access to newspapers.com (or whichever other similar service) might be able to provide appropriate links for this which are not copyright violations.

Request on study on Babur erecting a skull tower of the heads of his enemies.

I would like to see this study - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Chanderi#cite_note-Chandra-5 - particularly the pages which are relevant to the ordering of the tower of skulls of the opponent if possible. I would like to see it so I can verify if it is actually the truth, since many facts about rulers in India simply turn out to be poorly backed - and more often than not, canards.
