Ajith Sholayoor (born Ajith Abdul Majeed; 2 June 1962) is an Indian journalist, social worker, and former plantation supervisor from Kerala. He is best known for his long-standing role as a news representative for Malayala Manorama Agali, Palakkad.Still Continue his contributions to community through Journalism.

Early Life and Education

Ajith Sholayoor was born in Varandarappilly, Thrissur District, Kerala, to Sankara Menon Varanattumadom later known by the name Puthen Purayil Ahammad Kutty , a freedom fighter who left his Home when he was Studying VIII during the Indian independence movement to join the Indian National Army (INA) in Kolkata. Sankara Menon was the son of Varanattumadom Itooli Amma and Kotuveliyil Krishnapillai of Kadayirippu Kara, Ernakulam District. Ajith’s mother, Fathima, is deceased..  

He completed his education at:  

- Government Upper Primary School (GUPS), Kannattupadam, Palappilly.  

- Assumption High School, Varandarappilly.  

- Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Chalakudy.  

Career

- **1985–1993**: Worked as a supervisor at Cochin Malabar Plantations Ltd., Pudukad Division, Palappilly, Thrissur.  

- **1999–2000**: Produced programs such as *Dinam Prathidinam* and *Varthamanam* on a contract basis for All India Radio (AIR) Thrissur under producer M. Balakrishnan.  

- **2001–present**: Serves as a news representative for *Malayala Manorama* in Agali, Palakkad.  

Social Work and Honors

- Director, Cooperative Bank, Varandarappilly.  

- 2018 : Honored by Group Desamangalam.  

- 2019 : Recognized by the Kerala Journalist Union, Palakkad District Committee.  

- 2020 : Honored by Paloor Sree Subramanya Swami Temple, Malappuram District.  

- 2023 : Received a second honor from the Kerala Journalist Union.  

- 2025 : Awarded the Malleswara Puraskaram[1] by Attappady Sree Malleswaran Temple Trust (under the Malabar Devaswom Board, Government of Kerala) and honored by Attappady Block Panchayat.
