Brain and Performance Centre is a medical facility based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and owned by DP World. It specializes in brain health, focusing on aging-related cognitive decline, youth and adult neurological conditions, and mental performance enhancement. The centre utilises non-invasive techniques including diagnostics and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).[1]

History

edit

Founded in 2021, the centre has helped position Dubai as a global hub for advanced brain-focused medical care, aligning with the UAE Vision 2040.[2] It emphasizes cognitive resilience, neurodegeneration, and performance enhancement, particularly related to aging and brain health.

The centre offers diagnostic assessments and operates an advanced HBOT system. Its programmes target conditions such as post-stroke rehabilitation, brain injuries, Long COVID, fibromyalgia, autism spectrum disorders, and also support performance optimisation. Its approach is grounded in research across neuroplasticity, neuroinflammation, and cognitive longevity.[3]

The centre supports public education through school initiatives and collaborations with sports academies.[4] It also undertook a high-profile Everest Base Camp trek to raise awareness for autism.[5]

In 2024, the centre partnered with Mansions OAM to promote brain health and mental wellness as part of Mental Health Awareness Month in the UAE.[6]

The Brain and Performance Centre has also contributed to wider discussions on workplace wellness and productivity, highlighting the role of cognitive health in professional performance.[7]

The centre sponsors large-scale events such as Dubai Ride 2024[8][9] and the SHE Investment Summit, advocating gender inclusion in healthcare innovation.[10][11]

It also engages in sports initiatives, including golf sponsorships at Jumeirah Golf Estates, where it sponsors the monthly "Jumeirah Pairs" tournament. Winners have included Smithson and Shatra,[12] Northrop and Casey,[13] and Hymas and Stanford.[14] It also fields teams in competitive golf events, including the UGC Season 2 tournament.[15]

Leadership and recognition

edit

The company is led by CEO Craig Cook.[16] Dr. Semer Wang serves as Medical Director, overseeing clinical protocols and innovation in brain health therapies.

Dr. Umair Qureshi, one of the centre's clinical leaders, has represented the institution at regional health forums and works at the intersection of family and cognitive medicine.[17]

In 2024, the centre received a Gold Stevie Award for excellence in healthcare innovation.[18][19] It was also honoured at the International Prime Awards for Healthcare Excellence in recognition of its contributions to brain health and medical innovation.[20]
