David Steven Jacoby teaches graduate Supply Chain Management at New York University's Stern School of Business[1] and Operations Management[2] at the Tandon School of Engineering. He also teaches Environmental Sustainability and Value Creation at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business under the Legal Studies & Business Ethics Department[3] and Global Supply Chain Decarbonization at the College of Liberal & Professional Studies[4]. He previously held a role as an adjunct professor at Boston University’s Questrom Graduate School of Business. He authored: Retooling America For AI-Driven Supply Chains (2025), Getting to Net Zero: The Complete Guide to Decarbonizing Businesses and Supply Chains(2023), Reinventing the Energy Value Chain (2022), The High Cost of Low Prices: A Roadmap to Sustainable Prosperity, Trump, Trade, and the End of Globalization(2018), From Bogota to Beijing: Development and Life After Globalization(2018), Optimal Supply Chain Management in Oil, Gas and Power Generation(2012), and Guide to Supply Chain Management(2010) for The Economist.


His academic and professional contributions to the field of supply chain management span hundreds of publications and media events. He has written “From Ocean Currents to Zero-Carbon H2: Economics of Floating Offshore Wind to create Green Hydrogen" for EnergyTech, chaired the working group for “Supply Chain Security Guidelines on Provenance" for North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Supply Chain Working Group (SCWG), co-authored “Infrastructure Investment: The Supply Chain Connection” for Supply Chain XChange, and been interviewed by the Association for Supply Chain Management about “Force Majeure: Has Your Company Reached the Breaking Point?”.


Jacoby earned a dual MBA and Master of Arts from the Wharton School of Business and The Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He holds supply chain certifications including Certified Supply Chain Practitioner (CSCP)(Association of Supply Chain Management, ASCM), Certified in Transportation & Logistics (CTL)(Association of Supply Chain Management, ASCM), Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.)(Now C.P.S.M.)(Institute for Supply Management, ISM, Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM), and Certified in Energy Trading (Associated of Energy Engineers, AEE)(Now C.E.M) [5][6]. He has served as an advisory board member at ViziApps, New York Energy Week, and the International Supply Chain Educational Association, and participated in Boston University’s Institute for Global Sustainability as an IGS Senior Fellow[7] from 2020-2023, formerly known as the Institute for Sustainable Energy. He previously worked as an international management consultant at Kearney and Oliver Wyman in the United States, France, Brazil, Hong Kong, and elsewhere.
