Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

Comment: Focus on reporting what is contained in independent, secondary sources like the Verge article, and cut the promotional content sourced to the company itself. MCE89 (talk) 12:06, 22 August 2025 (UTC)

Deta Surf is a desktop web browser developed by the Berlin-based startup Deta. Released in open alpha, it combines web browsing with local data storage and AI-based content management tools.
Features
editDeta Surf includes a local storage system called Surf Memory, which allows users to save websites, videos, PDFs, and other content for offline access. Users can organize saved content into customizable workspaces called "contexts" to manage research or projects efficiently. The browser also incorporates an AI assistant that can answer questions, summarize content, and assist with data organization. In addition, Deta Surf allows users to store data locally and to integrate their own AI models and keys, and it provides functionality to capture screenshots of web pages as searchable bookmarks.[3]
Development
editDeta Surf is a desktop application designed to manage saved content efficiently. Parts of the browser are built using Electron, as seen in Deta’s partial code hosted on GitHub.[4] In addition, Deta maintains an AGPL-3.0 licensed repository for core components of its platform, separate from the browser shell; as of August 2025, the repository itself is currently empty.[5] Deta Surf also provides a redirect URL, `https://deta.surf/releases/alpha/latest`, which always points to the most recent alpha release, allowing users to access the latest version directly.[6] Installers are provided for each supported platform, with filenames corresponding to the platform architecture.
History
editDeta Surf was initially released as a closed alpha.[7] The earliest publicly available alpha release that has been archived is version 0.1.3.[8] The latest publicly known alpha release is version 0.5.11,[1] which is also referenced in a video on the project's YouTube channel.[2]
Reception
editThe Verge noted Deta Surf's approach to integrating AI with web browsing and organizing saved content into "contexts," while noting that the browser remains in early development.[9]
XDA Developers reviewed the browser’s features, noting the combination of AI tools and local data management in the open alpha version.[10]
