Egypt University of Informatics (EUI; Arabic: جامعة مصر للمعلوماتية) is a non-profit national (ahliya) university located in the New Administrative Capital of Egypt. It was established by Presidential Decree No. 329 of 2021 and is based in the Knowledge City technology hub. Egyptian media and government sources describe EUI as the first university in Africa and the Middle East to specialize in communications and information technology. [1][2][3]

History

In July 2021, Egypt’s Cabinet approved establishing a non-profit university named Egypt University of Informatics at Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital, with four faculties. [1] The decree and accompanying announcements stated that studies would start in October 2021 in the university’s first building, accommodating about 1,600 students while the rest of the campus was being completed. [5][6]

EUI’s founding president was the late Prof. Reem Bahgat. In April 2025 the Board of Trustees appointed Prof. Ahmed Hamad as acting president and named the main auditorium in Bahgat’s honor. [7][8]

In January 2025, the Supreme Council of Universities recognized EUI’s BSc in Computing and Information Sciences as equivalent to the national degree under Law 49/1972. [9]
