History
editThe company was founded in 2013 by Hans Scheffer, Michael Heerkens, Erwin Paaij, and Nick Goudriaan. It began under the name Print Ocean before rebranding as Drukzo for the Dutch market. With international expansion, particularly into the United Kingdom, the company adopted the name HelloPrint for operations outside the Benelux region.[5][6]
In 2016, HelloPrint secured a €3 million funding round from investors including Gert Jan Munneke and members of the management team, having previously been funded by its founders. In 2017, the company raised an additional investment from Bregal Unternehmerkapital and Project A to expand its marketplace and operations.[2][5][1]
In 2018, HelloPrint co-founded the WeTechRotterdam initiative with coworking space 42workspace and other entrepreneurs, aimed at promoting Rotterdam as a European technology hub.[7][8] In 2021, the company announced a partnership with Canva to enable printing of Canva-created designs through its platform.
In 2022, HelloPrint joined Startup Valencia as a corporate partner to strengthen its position within the Spanish technology sector.[9] In 2023, the company launched an expanded print API intended for enterprise and franchise use.[4][10]
