INAS 324, known as the KESTRELS, is an Indian Naval Air Squadron commissioned in July 2022 at INS Dega, Visakhapatnam. It is the first Naval Squadron on India's Eastern Seaboard to operate the indigenously built HAL Dhruv. The squadron's primary roles include maritime reconnaissance (MR) and search and rescue (SAR), with the HAL Dhruv equipped with surveillance radar and electro-optical sensors for these missions. Additionally, INAS 324 can provide humanitarian assistance, conduct special operations, and use its airborne medical intensive care unit for medical evacuations.[1]
