IntelliSee
editIntelliSee is a real-time artificial intelligence risk-detection system developed by Malum Terminus Technologies, Inc. It processes live video feeds from standard IP cameras without replacing hardware to generate alerts about potential hazards and threats. These include slip-risk hazards, fallen individuals, loitering, unauthorized vehicles, cell phones, human-trespassing, drawn guns, and "no person present" scenarios, among others.[1]
History
editIntelliSee was established in 2020[2] as a spin‑off from the University of Iowa. Its CEO, Scott Keplinger, has also served as an investor and assumed leadership of the parent company during the initial formation of the business.[3]
Technology
editThe system operates 24/7 and analyses feeds using computer vision and on‑site processing. It avoids retaining video footage and does not perform facial recognition or other personal identification functions. When a potential risk is detected, an alert is generated, including situational details like time and ___location, and can be delivered through SMS, email, desktop notifications, or integrated with existing mass‑notification systems.
Applications
editInitial deployment focused on educational settings, particularly aiming to respond to school shooting concerns.[4] Since then, usage has broadened to include hospitals, senior‑care facilities, retail environments, faith institutions, corporate offices, and public venues.
Funding and Partnerships
editIn early 2023, IntelliSee received a US$500,000 grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Innovation Fund[5] to support product development and staff expansion. In April 2024, AtlasIED made an equity investment, enabling IntelliSee to integrate with AtlasIED’s IPX endpoint devices and Singlewire’s InformaCast mass‑notification ecosystem.[6] PitchBook reports that IntelliSee was founded in 2020, is headquartered in Coralville, Iowa, and by March 2025 had raised approximately US $600,000 in a later-stage venture capital round, on top of earlier rounds totaling several million dollars and employing around 19 people.[7] Separately, Tracxn lists founders as Richard Ferguson and Karim Malek and notes total funding of about US $715,000 over three rounds, with AtlasIED among its investors.[8]
Recognition
editIntelliSee received the 2022 Excellence in Product Innovation Award (overall winner) from the National Systems Contractors Association. Additional recognition includes the 2024 Best Emergency Services & Security AV Product at InfoComm.
