Jalasoft is a global software engineering company headquartered in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The company provides nearshore software development, staff augmentation, quality assurance, test automation, and cloud services. It operates primarily in Latin America and works with clients in various international markets.[1] [2]

History

Jalasoft was founded in 2001 by Jorge López Lafuente, who had previously worked in Silicon Valley. The company began with six engineers and has expanded to employ over 1,000 professionals across several countries.[3]

It is part of the Jala Group, which also includes educational and philanthropic initiatives . In 2019, Jalasoft began participating in the stock market, raising $9 million in financing to support expansion and research initiatives.[4]

Jalasoft supports Jala University, an educational initiative that trains software engineers in Latin America.[5] [6]

Jalasoft’s services include software development and testing, covering both maintenance and new development in technologies such as .NET, Java, Python, JavaScript, and machine learning . The company’s main engagement model is staff augmentation, embedding software developers, QA engineers, and DevOps specialists into client teams.[7]

The company also conducts research and development in areas such as artificial intelligence and supports educational programs aimed at training engineers in emerging technologies. [8][9]

The company’s headquarters in Cochabamba includes an office building with capacity for up to 900 engineers. Since 2020, Jalasoft has adopted a remote work model for its engineering staff.[10][11]

Leadership

Jorge López Lafuente, founder and CEO, previously worked on Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop 3.5, and Adobe Premiere 5.0, and co-founded the data centre management platform AppManager.[12] [13]
