Early Life and Education
editMatthews was born in Southern California to former NFL linebacker Clay Matthews Jr. and Leslie Matthews. He is part of the Matthews family, known for its legacy in professional football, which includes Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Bruce Matthews and Super Bowl champion Clay Matthews III.[1] He graduated from Westlake High School in 2000 and later attended the University of Southern California (USC), where he played football and studied international relations.[1]
Career

In a June 2024 interview on Fox Business, Matthews discussed trends shaping commercial real estate, including the migration of capital to Sun Belt cities, shifts in investor strategy amid interest rate volatility, and the resilience of income-producing assets during economic cycles.[5]

In 2024, he was named one of GlobeSt’s “CRE’s Best Bosses,” an annual list recognizing industry leaders for workplace excellence and vision.[6]
Media and Public Engagement
editMatthews hosts the Matthews Mentality Podcast, where he interviews entrepreneurs, business leaders, and public figures about leadership, strategy, and performance.[1] In 2025, he appeared on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast with his brother Clay Matthews III to discuss their upbringing, family dynamics, and the crossover between sports and business leadership.[7]
He has been featured in media outlets such as Commercial Observer, CoStar, Los Angeles Business Journal, Fox Business, and Nashville Business Journal.[1][2][4][3][5]
