Linnworks was founded in 2005 by Fedor Dzjuba as a desktop application to manage online retail inventory.[4] It later shifted towards a cloud-based software model. [5]. Since then, the company has expanded internationally, with offices in London, Louisville, and Tallinn.[6]

In 2021, private equity firm Marlin Equity Partners acquired a majority stake in Linnworks.[7] Two years later, in 2023, the company appointed Chris Timmer as CEO to succeed former CEO Callum Campbell.[8]

In 2022, to expand its market presence in North America, Linnworks bought U.S.-based inventory and warehouse management software provider, SkuVault.[9]
