Merchology is a privately held,.[1] family-owned branded merchandise company based in Plymouth, Minnesota. The company sells corporate apparel, gifts, and promotional products[2] in the B2B sector.[3] Merchology specializes in co-branded merchandise, adding company logos to products from brands like YETI, Under Armour, and Patagonia,[4] acting as mediators between retail brands and customers who want these products branded with their company's logo[1]
History
editFounder Dick Ward started in the corporate apparel industry in 1987.[2]. Ward transitioned from selling corporate apparel door to door to selling branded merchandise directly to consumers online[2]
He founded Merchology with his children, Ally (Ward) Delgado and Andrew Ward.[5] in Minnetonka, MN, in 2013. Ally (Ward) Delgado earned her undergraduate degree from Carlson and received an MBA at Harvard. Before Merchology, Ally Delgado worked for General Mills[2]. Andrew Ward graduated from St. John's University with a business management degree, then went on to work for a commercial real estate brokerage before co-founding Merchology[2]
In 2016, Merchology gained the capability of providing the bulk of its embroidery in-house when it purchased an embroidery company[2][5]. Merchology moved its headquarters to Plymouth, MN in 2022. The same year, Merchology opened a second production and distribution ___location in Pennsylvania.[6]
Merchology launched its online corporate store feature in 2018[5]. The company switched to Shopify as an e-commerce shopping platform in 2016.[7]
Sustainability Contributions
editIn 2019, the founders of Merchology launched Zusa, their own lifestyle brand focused on sustainable apparel and goods.[8] Zusa products are produced in 100% WRAP Certified factories, and the brand's manufacturing utilizes recycled materials[8]. In 2025, Merchology received a "Committed" badge from the third-party platform EcoVadis.[9] EcoVadis is a sustainability assessment platform that reviews the sustainability impact and efforts of businesses, providing scoring and improvement benchmarks[9]. In 2023, Merchology contributed to a "100 Million Bottle Initiative" with Zing Manufacturing.[10]
Local Recognition
editMerchology was named a Minnesota Family Business Awards Finalist by Twin Cities Business Journal in 2022.[11] The company was also listed in the Star Tribune's Top Workplaces awards in 2019, 2021, and 2023.[12] The Minneapolis-St.Paul Business Journal named Merchology one of the Twin Cities' fastest-growing businesses from 2017–2019[1], and from 2016–2018.[13]
