Neeru Yadav (Born c. 1990) is an Indian social activist and the Sarpanch of Lambi Ahir village in Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan.[1][2] She is popularly known as the Hockey Wali Sarpanch[3][4] for promoting women's Hockey and spearheading Rural development initiatives, including Education, Agriculture, and Digital Infrastructure. [5][6]
Early Life and Education
editNeeru Yadav was born in Chhapra Salimpur village, Haryana.[5] She completed her Master of Science degree in 2013.[5][7]
Career
editIn 2020, Yadav was elected as the first woman Sarpanch of Lambi Ahir, securing 1,240 votes.[8][5] Using two years of her salary, she hired a coach and purchased equipment to form a girls' Hockey team in her village, which went on to compete at panchayat, block, and district levels.[1][9]
In January 2023, she co-founded the all-women Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO), Sachhi Saheli Mahila Agro Producer Company Limited[10][11], to support women farmers with access to subsidized agricultural inputs. [5][1]
Recognition
edit- In 2022, she received the Shiksha Shree Award from the Government of Rajasthan.[5]
- In the same year, she was felicitated by UNICEF and the Panchayati Raj Department for contributions to women’s political participation.[5]
- Her work was featured in the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) examination questions. [1]
