Mahbubus Samad Chowdhury (Bengali: মাহবুবুস সামাদ চৌধুরী) is a Major General of the Bangladesh Army. He is the Director General (DG) of the Special Security Force (SSF).[1][2][3]

Career
editChowdhury currently holds the Director General (DG) of the Special Security Force (SSF), an elite unit responsible for providing physical security to the President, Prime Minister, and the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, as well as other designated VVIPs. He assumed this role on August 20, 2024.
Mahbubus Samad is an officer from the 25th BMA Long Course and belongs to the Infantry Corps.
Prior to his current role, he has served in various capacities within the Bangladesh Army, both at home and abroad. He was the Director of Infantry Directorate in the Army Headquarters before being promoted to Major General. He commanded an infantry brigade in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar while also acted as the Task Force Commander for the security of Rohingya camps. He served as the Peacekeeping Affairs Officer (P-4) at the United Nations Headquarters for four years, and also served in two field missions as a military observer and contingent staff officer.
Major General Mahbubus Samad Chowdhury achieved the Chancellors Gold Medal in the Master of Peace, Conflict and Human Rights Studies from Bangladesh University of Professionals or BUP.
He is a keen golfer. Notably, he was also the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Golf Federation and Club Captain at Kurmitola Golf Club, reflecting his involvement in sports alongside his military career.[4]
