From Ancient Greek Ὀσροηνή (Osroēnḗ). Compare Ὀσρόης (Osróēs) (probably a form of Χοσρόης (Khosróēs), from Iranian; see خسرو, Classical Syriac ܐܘܪܗܝ (ʾŌrhāy).^[1]
