Shimo, also known as Titanus Shimo, is a giant monster, or Kaiju, that was featured in the 2024 Monsterverse film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.[1] She first appeared in the 2022 video game Call of Duty: Warzone, originally as a cave painting, but was finally added to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire in 2024.[2]

Overview
editDevelopment
editThe design of Shimo went through several phases of drafting. Initially planned as an "ice version of Godzilla", the lack of information with this concept led to the idea being dropped. According to designer Jared Krichevsky, Shimo's intial designs were "too dragon-like" and it took a long time before he finally came up with the right design. Shimo's final design was based on several real-world animals, her overall appearance was based on polar bears and Komodo dragons, and facial features modeled after chameleons.[3][4]
Krichevsky stated during development that Shimo was also originally intended to be gendered as a male kaiju,[4][5][6][7] but this was changed later on during the development to have Shimo be gendered as a female kaiju.[4][5][6]
