Suggestion
editHi, I think the article should be renamed Adaptive sampling (molecular biology) if the technique is applied to it. AS is a general theory & method of prob and stats cf. Thompson, Steven K.; Seber, G. A. F. (1996). Adaptive sampling. Wiley series in probability and statistics. New York: Wiley. ISBN 978-0-471-55871-2. 17387349L8764 (talk) 07:37, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- I agree with you in that. Adaptive sampling is a general topic in statistics. Its specific meaning in biology should be either under the main general article or as another article as Adaptive Sampling (biology). Koca Çingene (talk) 12:34, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- I would like to add that there is an "adaptive sampling" technique in sequencing (more exact, in ONT long-read sequencing), which has almost nothing to do with the adaptive sampling currently discussed on the page, as it is not necessarily based on the same mathematical principles. However, this still falls under "biology". A suggestion would be to have AS (statistics), AS (protein folding), AS (sequencing). Pollicces (talk) 06:54, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
