Keeping all the character descriptions, not only A E I O U

  • At 17:39, 17 September 2018‎ someone deleted all the consonant character descriptions and left only A E I O U. I have restored them. During that interval, most of the edits to this article were anonymous (IPA) users, including the edits that deleted the consonant character descriptions. Some people DO want the full character description list. See NovaBrunswick's message above :: it is to be wondered whether this article needs WP:semiprotection. Unless the characters themselves are notable, there is no justification for a separate article. Given what's been happening with the main Alphablocks article (and its cohorts), any "characters" section tends to become bogged down in trivial details, which are themselves original research. ... discospinster talk 21:36, 11 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I don't agree. The wikipedia needs 2 articles called List of Alphablocks characters and List of Numberblocks characters respectivly because this has happened to Avatar The Last Airbender and I think it will work. Alphablocks Game

  Flash Player being discontinued{{LostMedia}} {{Infobox merch}}Alphablocks Game was an interactive web game based on Alphablocks, created to accompany the original series produced by Alphablocks Ltd. and animated by Magic Lantern. The game launched around the same time as the show’s release on the official CBeebies website.

Uniquely, some of the episodes were retrofitted to be interactive, allowing players to drag Alphablocks letters into spaces to spell words and unlock animations. According to player accounts, the game included all episodes available at the time, with over a third adapted to let users choose which words to spell. These interactive versions also contained additional scenes not shown in the broadcast episodes, making them exclusive to the game.

The character Z narrated instructions, encouraging players to explore episodes and collect stickers by finding “star words.” In the interactive episodes, Alphablocks could be dragged into empty spaces; if a nonsense word was spelled, the blocks would shrug and reset.

From 3rd October, 2017 onward, the game was removed from the CBeebies website, likely due to compatibility issues with newer technology. The game was later succeeded by Alphablocks World, a more modern digital platform.

Information

According to what people know about the game, it contained all episodes from the show up to that point, with over a third of the episodes being altered to let the player choose what words to spell with the select Alphablocks. These 33 episodes also have scenes that play out that aren't shown in the aired versions, making them exclusive to the game.

Z also narrates the game and tells the player what to do.

When the player clicks on an episode button, it will take them to a yellow and brown play-button, with the main subject and Alphablocks of the episode at the left and right of it, and all the words spelled out in the episode underneath it. Clicking on a word after it's spelled in the episode will result in the word being said out by the Alphablocks.

The non-interactive episodes are the same as in the show. Meanwhile, in all of the interactive episodes, when the time comes, a bunch of Alphablocks as well as some red circles that represent empty spaces pop up. The player has the ability to drag the Alphablocks to the empty spaces in order to make them spell words. Like in the show, the Alphablocks make the word come to life. When a word is nonsense, the Alphablocks will shrug, and the dragged ones will jump back to their original positions. This will play out until a "star word" is spelled, which completes the episode.

Alphablocks Game introduces a new category of words called "tricky words". These are words that are not one of the intended words and do not provide progress, but they are still counted as valid. Spelling a "tricky word" gives the player a medal.

After the Alphablocks A-Z episode plays out, all 26 Alphablocks will be displayed. Clicking on them will replay their part of the episode.

If there is a long period of inactivity, Z will start snoring and then say “Wake up, it's time to make some words!”.

  • 33 of the 91 episodes available were interactive, while the other 58 were normal episodes from the show.
  • Out of the numerous exclusive scenarios that play out in the 33 interactive episodes, not all of them had surfaced online after the game was removed. Because of this, the game has a page on the Lost Media Wiki.[1]
  • Z only appears in two interactive levels, being Alphablocks A-Z and Hat.
  • Q and X only appear in Alphablocks A-Z's interactive level. Therefore they do not appear in any level that allows the player to spell words.
  • Capital lettered Alphablocks only appear in the 2012-2017 loading screen, where the first A is seen with a capital letter spelling the word "Alphablocks".
  • When a consonant is placed between a vowel and E, the E will immediately turn into Magic E. This is only possible in Space, and the only split digraph to be created in interactive levels is A_E.
  • The only interactive level where I does the "Long I" sound is Sing.
  • IGH is the only trigraph to appear in an interactive level.

Oddities

  • Many digraphs who debuted in the TV show appeared much earlier through the interactable levels of this game, making them former game-exclusives.
    • Digraphs OR, OI (who both debut in Series 3's The End), IR (who debuts in Series 4's Birthday Girl), OA (who debuts in Series 3's Toad), and AR (who debuts in Series 1's Party) can all be created in the interactive version of Series 1's Key, however all of them result in nonsense words with digraph CK ("orck", "oick", "irck", "oack", "arck").
    • Digraph AW (who debuts in Series 1's Quiet) can be created in the interactive versions of Surprise and Jaybird, both from Series 1. This causes the game-exclusive words "saw" and "jaw" to be spelled.
    • Digraph OY (who debuts in Series 4's Cowboy) can be created in the interactive version of Series 1's Jaybird. This causes the game-exclusive word "joy" to be spelled.
    • Digraph AY (who debuts in Series 1's Jaybird) can be created in the interactive version of Series 1's Surprise, resulting in the game-exclusive word "say" to be spelled.
    • Digraph NG (who debuts in Series 3's Song) can be created in the interactive version of Series 2's Bop, however the resulting word "bng" is nonsense.
    • Digraph PH (who debuts in Series 4's Alphabet) appeared prior in the 2012-2017 loading screen, where they take part in spelling "Alphablocks".
  • Digraph AE has only made an appearance in the interactive version of Space, while digraphs GN and UI has only appeared in the interactive version of Bop, making all three digraphs game-exclusive.
  • In the interactive version of Map, when spelling words where A is pronounced /ɑː/, A will play digraph AR's sound effect.
  • B has a different spelling sound effect in the 2012-2017 loading screen than in the interactive levels.

Alphablocks A-Z (also known as Alphablocks, Meet the Alphablocks, or just A-Z in a YouTube release) is the first episode of the first series of Alphablocks, and the first episode of both Alphablocks and the Learningblocks franchise overall.

Synopsis

The adventure of twenty-six lively letters who can make words come to life by holding hands.

Plot

The Alphablocks introduce themselves in order, one by one.

Letter Description
A A comes in and an apple falls on her head.
B B rocks out on her bass guitar before sliding.
C C creates cracks and crevices. She also breaks the fourth wall, by damaging the screen.
D Similar to B, except D is seen drumming instead, though he almost falls over.
E E is first seen as Silent E. After attempting to say his noise, he changes to regular E and says his sound using a megaphone, with the addition of an echoing effect. In the US dub and in BBC iPlayer, the scene where Silent E appears is omitted.
F F floats around, emitting air from her mouth along the way.
G G drinks water, causing the grass in her hair to grow.
H H runs and pants. She eventually gets tired while breathing heavily.
I I looks in her hand mirror while singing loudly. At the same time, this sound cracks her dome.
J J pretends to fly, and then says her noise loudly and repetitively.
K K kicks his football so high that it briefly disappears from sight; when the football returns downward, K gets hit by it.
L L sings a lullaby and falls asleep.
M M eats a chunk of terrain.
N N refuses to introduce himself. When the screen transitions to O, he stops the camera from being seen.
O O breaks the fourth wall by looking at the screen, as he observes it for a few seconds before running away.
P P is nowhere to be seen until she pops into view. This repeats nine to ten times.
Q Q tries to make her sound alone. When her solo attempt doesn't work, Q drags U onscreen so that they can form the digraph QU and make a sound.
R R swings on a rope, hoping to reach the other side. She fails, and instead falls off of it.
S S is shown inflated. She deflates, then reinflates again and this repeats until it transitions into T.
T T attempts to have tea with a friend, but no one else is there. He then tuts off the screen before it transitions into U.
U U reappears with Q still nearby, although they are no longer stuck together. Q then chases him.
V V drives around.
W W trips and cries, but waves to the viewer after weeping.
X X flies out from an X-shaped crater, and draws a green X mid-air. He then flies away.
Y Y holds on to the edge of a cliff, but he manages to get up.
Z Z has a dream of himself. He wakes up as soon as the bubble pops and goes to the ending credits.

Trivia

  • This is the first Alphablocks episode with a transition to the credits. The second time is the special The Wonderful Wizard of Az. Most other episodes and specials have the credits abruptly appear.
  • This episode is similar to the Series 2 episode On, only this episode doesn't have words.
  • E is first seen in a black suit that may or may not be the same as Magic E.
  • U is the only one to be seen before he says his sound.
  • This is the one of the two Alphablocks episodes to not involve word magic, with the other being An Alphablocks Adventure.
  • Q is the first Alphablock to connect with another one, namely with U, making it the first time where a digraph was formed.
  • Strangely enough, O is the first Alphablock to actually say something other than his sound -- despite his usual inability to make sounds that the letter O doesn't spell.
  • There's a scene in another version where Silent E becomes "un-silent".
  • This is one of the three Learningblocks episodes to have no dialogue, the others are Black and White and Grey.
    • However, the latter two still have some dialogue with the speakers, making Alphablocks A-Z the only episode to have no dialogue at all.
  • At the end of the episode in later airings, instead of saying "© 2009 Alphablocks Ltd." (when the show was first in development), it says "© 2013 Alphablocks Ltd."
  • In Canada and the UK, W says “Waaaaaa!” In the US, however, W says “W-w-w-w-w!”. His mouth is different in both versions.
  • A video with the episode posted on YouTube is the most viewed video in the Alphablocks YouTube channel with 70 million views.
  • In the British and Canadian dubs, the Q symbol lacked a hooktail. However, in the US dub, the symbol is shown to have a hooktail.

Cakes and Cake Toppers

There were several Alphablock-related cakes that were not manufactured by Alphablocks Ltd, nor BlueZoo. Some of the cakes are pretty inaccurate and often show Alphablocks with the wrong Alphalings. Some cakes even feature generic Alphablocks who have no resemblance to the actual ones.
