Image transparancy

edit

@AntiCompositeNumber I also noticed the lack of transparency in webp, do you think that is a bug that should be reported on Phabricator? PhotographyEdits (talk) 19:34, 2 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

T283646? Seems to be the same problem, original vs. 500px. Nyakase (talkguestbook) 20:17, 2 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Funny that @AntiCompositeNumber is already part of that thread PhotographyEdits (talk) 20:33, 2 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

worth mentioning the FSF calling it "malware" (with very loose reasoning)?

No, unless there is a secondary source for it. PhotographyEdits (talk) 14:37, 11 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
The Free Software Foundation often uses the term 'malware' to refer to proprietary software that contains features at the expense of their users, instead of just software that is mainly for disrupting computer systems. This definition may be limited to them and other parts of the free software movement, so there may be neutrality issues with using their opinion on this wiki. Anubis is different due to it being free software/open source, but the FSF uses the 'malware' term as it uses JavaScript features that may be used for malicious purposes, although most other people would probably not consider it malware.
Regardless, the FSF post would probably not be suitable to be a reference in this article due to it being a blog post. Xeroctic (talk) 09:02, 12 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Potential Conflict of Interest?

edit

Techaro, the company behind Anubis ("a software to protect websites against aggressive LLMs"),

"gives you solutions.

Other companies give you problems. Techaro gives you solutions to mitigate those problems.

AI and Machine Learning

Leverage cutting-edge AI technologies to automate processes, gain insights, and drive innovation in your business."

(emphasis mine)

as per their web site: https: //techaro.lol/solutions

There are persistent allegations of antivirus software companies pushing viruses in order to promote their software... Why should "AI and Machine Learning" companies not have a nice second leg to stand on, too... even if it is open source. Someone has to provide the customer service... and on top of that, even if the algorithm is open source, the *data* being processed doesn't have to be. It doesn't require a lot of imagination to see how providing the "right" data could benefit cryptomining for example, or even possibly LLMs themselves. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:A62:629:F701:2538:20B3:B269:5226 (talk) 08:36, 31 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I also noticed this in the Techaro website. Can't believe they're doing that. 2601:646:9901:F500:E422:4AEF:C9D0:4858 (talk) 22:48, 31 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
