Renaming the article

edit

The script on which this article has been created is called "Name Dogra Akhhar" in its native language, which can be translated to "New Dogra Letters". This is so because it was standardised by the then ruler of Jammu and Kashmir. In his doing so, the new script was distinguished from the old, unmodified version - called "Parane Dogra Akkhar" or "Old Dogra Letters".

The current name of the article is misleading because currently, the officially recognised script for the Dogri language is Devanagari. All governmental publications in Dogri and nearly all Dogri literature is printed in Devanagari. So, I'm moving the article. The Eternal Wanderer (talk) 17:12, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

For clarity: the previous name was Dogri script. In Unicode, the script alias is "Dogra" (Dogra (Unicode block)), unchanged. DePiep (talk) 17:48, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Incomplete history

edit

This article talks about the REVIVAL of the Dogri script, implying that Dogri was used before, but this is not mentioned. Also, its infobox does not show the times it was used. 2601:182:81:36B0:5473:AD39:801A:C34E (talk) 23:10, 21 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
