English

It is not clear what this article is about. Does it have anything to do with Electricity distribution? Biscuittin (talk) 22:42, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, it is grid computing which is at least now mentioned. Needs to use more standard English. Research project proposals and reports tend to use trendy buzzwords and jargon, so we need to paraphrase. W Nowicki (talk) 20:27, 2 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Enabling Grids for E-sciencE

edit

The Enabling Grids for E-sciencE was propsed for deletion. Since several other pages link to it, I am doing a quick merge here, and then proposing to make that a redirect. It can always be deleted later if the history is deemed to be not useful. I am not doing a cut-n-paste of any of that articlel, but trying to put in paraphased summaries of cited sources instead. Rename

edit

An anonymous user on my talk page pointed out that the name since February 2010 seems to be European Grid Infrastructure so I will move to that and reword the article. It also bothers me still that the description is not precise. It seems not to be a computer network per se but more like a consortium that develops and maintains the software to run the network and the computers on it and coordinates its operation? Not sure how far I will get but will try to work more on it. W Nowicki (talk) 17:07, 3 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

YAIM

edit

I merge and redirect Yaim here, but the edit summary I spelled it as YAIM in error. RJFJR (talk) 20:44, 21 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Requested move: Rename article to "EGI Federation"

edit

I propose renaming this article from “European Grid Infrastructure” to simply “EGI”. The organisation no longer uses the full legacy name “European Grid Infrastructure,” as its scope has expanded well beyond grid computing. Today, the brand and common reference is simply EGI, which encompasses both the EGI Federation (the network of service providers) and the EGI Foundation (the coordinating body). Most official communications, project references, and the organisation’s website use “EGI” as the primary name. This is also reflected in the article text, which states that the original meaning of the acronym is outdated and recommends referring to the organisation simply as EGI. Renaming the article to “EGI” better aligns with the organisation’s current identity, avoids confusion, and follows Wikipedia’s naming guideline to use the common and current name used by reliable sources. Supporting sources: https://www.egi.eu Horizon Europe project pages referencing “EGI” Official EGI documents and communications:https://www.egi.eu/publications/ I am affiliated with the EGI Foundation and am making this proposal transparently in line with Wikipedia’s conflict of interest guidelines. I am not editing the article directly but propose a discussion for consensus and eventual renaming by an admin. MagdalenaBrus 1 (talk) 09:22, 4 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
