False Statement

Hello, I'm the creator of this link. In retrospect, I did notice it to be a bit political, so I changed the example of the US political examples to 2 hypothetical situations. I hope this helps.

A lie and a false statement are not mutually exclusive. A lie is purported to be true, but it's actually a statement that's known to be untrue and used to deceive the second or third party in a coversation.

A false statement is a statement that's untrue, but malicious intent may or may not be the motivation.

Is there a reason "The terrorists win" redirects to this article? Near as I can tell it would be more appropriate to classify it as a thought-terminating cliche or a logical fallacy of some kind. 199.20.68.40 (talk) 14:31, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
