What is 'Strathfoyle' in Irish? I have tried to find out, but have found it difficult to pin down. Ryannus 20:02, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I still can't find it. Can anyone help? Ryannus (talk) 19:07, 7 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I found it. Ryannus (talk) 19:32, 7 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
The Irish is a translation from the English, not vice versa. jnestorius(talk) 16:20, 26 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Strathfoyle. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Galway Cup reference

edit

I've been looking into the paragraph under Sport referring to an unnamed youth club that competed in the Galway Cup. It's been difficult to find a reliable source that lists participants in this youth competition but so far, I can't find any mention of a team from Strathfoyle that might have competed.

Here's what I've got for the 2012 competition. These fixtures were taken from the Galway Cup's own Facebook page ([1]) :

Fixtures for 11th August 2012 (Finals Day):

- SDFC 97 vs SDFC 98 [Boys 1997 Pride Playoff]
- Oxford Utd Stars vs Midlands Schoolboys League [Boys 1997 Bowl Playoff]
- Mervue Utd vs FC Futura [Boys 1997 Bowl Final]
- WW/EC vs Clare [Boys 1999 Elite Shield Playoff]
- Carlow DL vs SDFC [Boys 1999 Playoff]
- Foyle Harps vs Salthill Devon [Boys 1995 Plate Final]
- Mervue Utd vs Uist & Barra [Boys 1995 Cup Final]
- Valerenga vs Aberdeen [Boys 1997 Elite Plate Playoff]
- North Tipperary vs Roscommon [Boys 1997 Plate Playoff]
- North East Counties vs Donegal [Boys 1997 Plate Final]
- Kildare vs St Oliver Plunkett [Boys 1997 Cup Final]
- Kerry vs East Meath [Boys 1997 Cup Playoff]
- SDFC vs Dundalk [Boys 1999 Elite Plate Playoff]
- North Tipperary vs Kildare [Boys 1999 Elite Plate Final]
- Donegal Schoolboys vs Cavan/Monaghan [Boys 1999 Elite Cup Final]
- Galway DL vs Athlone [Boys 1999 Elite Cup Playoff]
- North East Counties vs Carlow DL [Boys 1999 Elite Bowl Final]
- Manchester City vs Malaga [Boys 1997 Elite Plate Final]
- Maccabi Haifa vs St Kevin's Boys [Boys 1997 Elite Cup Playoff]
- Republic of Ireland vs Dynamo Moscow [Boys 1997 Elite Cup Final]
- Armagh City vs Power FC [boys 1999 Elite Bowl Playoff]
- Roscommon vs Athlone [Boys 1999 Plate Final]
- Roscommon vs Ridgeway Rovers [Boys 1999 Elite Shield Final]
- Kerry vs Galway DL [Boys 1999 Cup Final] DarthJoeyJoJo79 (talk) 12:06, 3 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

I've gone through the list of teams and the only one based in or around Londonderry is Oxford United Stars F.C. Strictly speaking, they are not based in Strathfoyle itself and additionally, they did not finish as runners-up in the 2012 Galway Cup having lost 4-2 to Kildare in the previous round. Kildare then met St. Oliver Plunkett of Belfast in the Boys 1997 Final which ended 1-1 before Oliver Plunkett picked up the trophy with a 3-1 win on penalties.

I'd consider this basis to remove the paragraph from the main article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DarthJoeyJoJo79 (talkcontribs) 20:20, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Strathfoyle's fine sportsmen and women

edit

Again, looking into examples of this. So far all I got is:

- Jordan Collins, Surf Kayaker [2]

Any other suggestions? DarthJoeyJoJo79 (talk) 12:40, 3 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
