Another essential part of the whipper snipper's mechanism involves the rotation direction that the line is being wound on to the spool (when replacing) vs the rotation direction of the cutting head (most of them being CCW from the user's POV) - and from which vantage point, i.e. from the top and bottom POV. The photo used in the article supposedly shows an individual using a string trimmer. However, his hands are not engaged with the tool.
