Template:Cite MapQuest

This template is used for referencing maps published by AOL, Inc. through their Mapquest service.

This template is based on {{Cite map}} so it falls into the Citation Style 1 (CS1) series of templates, although it can be set to emulate CS2 style.

Note that unlike paper maps, Mapquest offers dynamic sizing at variable scales. Major citation style guides omit a map scale in that situation so this template does not render any scale output.

Usage

Parameters

edit

url – the URL for the map in question
title – a "subtitle" for the map. The link text will appear as "<title>" if "title" is used; otherwise, it will be the page name.
access-date – the full retrieval date.
link – set to "no" to unlink the publisher.
mode – set to "cs2" to use Citation Style 2 output
ref – to use Harvard-style referencing.

Normal usage with automatic inclusion of page title (i.e. "Cite MapQuest", which is taken from the template's full page title "Template:Cite MapQuest"):

generates this:

AOL (12 August 2025). "Cite MapQuest" (Map). Mapquest. AOL. Retrieved 12 August 2025.

Using the optional title parameter:

generates this:
