Template talk:Editnotices/Page/Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk

The text [[Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/Your draft name here]] (in the edit notice template) needs correcting. The 'c' in 'creation' should be in lower case. This anomaly probably accounts for most of the redlinks we see at the help desk. Pol430 talk to me 19:38, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Could the editnotice please include something suggesting editors replying to help desk questions leave a note on the submitter's talk page. I've noticed that newcomers don't automatically realise their question is being posted on the help desk and either ignore it or ask it again. I'd suggest something like this :

I'd prefer that the editnotice include a link to the template, viz:
This allows the user to see what the template they're about to subst: actually does. --Redrose64 (talk) 16:08, 5 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good to me - happy to go with your suggestion. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:47, 5 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
OK, next q: should it be inside the pink "Common problems to avoid" box, or after it? --Redrose64 (talk) 19:02, 5 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Separate - it's directed to a different audience. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 08:41, 6 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

There's two full stops in the question template. There should only be one. -- t numbermaniac c 06:25, 30 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

  Not done: please be more specific about what needs to be changed. There are more than two, but each occurs at the end of a different sentence, so it appears to be correct. Exactly where is this double full-stop? --Redrose64 (talk) 09:13, 30 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
There's a line finishing with two full stops. There should only be one. I should have said that more clearly. My bad. -- t numbermaniac c 10:24, 30 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
@Redrose64: In the dropdown. -- t numbermaniac c 10:29, 30 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
  Done, although I suspect it was an attempt at an ellipsis. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:26, 30 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 19 January 2015

edit

Please replace the following line

#** <code><nowiki>{{subst:#time:H:i:s, j F Y}} request for review by {{SUBST:REVISIONUSER}}</nowiki></code>

with

<code><nowiki>{{SUBST:#time:H:i:s, j F Y}} review of submission by {{SUBST:REVISIONUSER}}</nowiki></code>

since that’s what’s in the preload and is in almost every section header on WP:AFCHD. 174.141.182.82 (talk) 06:51, 19 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I've changed "request for review" to "review of submission". I haven't removed "#**" from the start of the line, as that would spoil the formatting of the notice, and the distinction between "subst" and "SUBST" doesn't seem important. Is that OK? -- John of Reading (talk) 07:45, 19 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I missed the #**. What you did was what I meant. Thanks! —174.141.182.82 (talk) 10:49, 19 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Per discussion at WT:WPAFC, a template has been added for use at the help desk, {{subst:AFCHD/rs}}. It should be added to the editnotice. Thanks. ProgrammingGeek talktome 15:37, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Save changes -> Publish changes

edit

The wiki-wide change implemented by WMF on 11 December 2017, which saw the renaming of the blue "Save changes" button to "Publish changes" in both source and visual editors, means that many help pages, templates and some graphics are now out of date. This template's text now needs updating to minimise any confusion for new users. Regards from the UK,Nick Moyes (talk) 00:16, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please add a large warning box telling people not to ask for their draft to be reviewed faster. It would be a good idea to have text close to what is in the main AfC template. I am not completely sure this is the right place to ask. The warning should appear when editing Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk.

I don't know to express that the software should update the text to reflect the size of the backlog as it does in the AfC template, but it should do that. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 16:53, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Frayae, the {{Afc}} template is about football. Please provide a link to the template you actually mean.
While you're reviewing your request, editnotices are usually based on {{editnotice}}, not {{warning}}. Cabayi (talk) 17:25, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Cabayi: the template which is on drafts waiting for review. You place {{subst:submit}} to use it but I think it is an implementation of Template:AFC submission.

Using editnotice instead of warning. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 17:35, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Or assuming I got it right, try this:

Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 17:56, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

(edit conflict)
  Done Found it! It's {{AFC status/backlog}} used in {{AFC submission/pending}} which gives the number - 2,045 pending submissions. Added it to the existing {{editnotice}}, which I'd overlooked oops, sorry. Let me know if you want different. Orange is (I think) too garish for MOS:COLOR. Cabayi (talk) 17:58, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! what you added should be fine, the bright orange box is not a requirement. Sorry for not quite figuring out the templates. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 18:01, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
