TharnType is a 2019 Thai boys' love television series directed by Bundit Sintanaparadee, produced by Me Mind Y,[a] and starring Suppasit Jongcheveevat (Mew) and Kanawut Traipipattanapong (Gulf). It is based on the web novel TharnType's Story: Hate You, Love You More (Thai: เกลียดนักมาเป็นที่รักกันซะดีๆ) by Orawan Vichayawannakul (Mame) which tells the story of a homophobic college student who unexpectedly begins to develop feelings for his gay roommate. It premiered on One 31 from October 6, 2019 to January 6, 2020 for 12 episodes.[1]

Two special episodes were released, namely, TharnType Special: Lhong's Story in 2019 and TharnType Special: Our Final Love in 2020 which was screened at Siam Pavalai Royal Grand Theatre.[2] A second season, also known as TharnType 2: 7 Years of Love, premiered on November 6, 2020 and concluded on January 8, 2021 for 12 episodes.
Synopsis
editTharnType (Season 1)
Type Thiwat is a handsome freshman with a passion for football and spicy food. Although he is a friendly, he hates gay people because, when he was young, he was molested by a male worker at his family's resort. His life turns upside down when the new academic year brings along a charismatic roommate, Tharn Kirigun. Tharn is a compassionate music major, who is openly gay. When Type learns this, he is determined to make Tharn leave the dorm, as he refuses to livr with a gay person. Tharn is equally determined not to give into Type's homophobic demands and tantrums. The tension between the two increases as they explore romantic, and eventually sexual, dimensions of their relationship.

Web novel
editThe web novel, TharnType's Story: Hate You, Love You More (Thai: เกลียดนักมาเป็นที่รักกันซะดีๆ) by Orawan Vichayawannakul (Mame), which the series was based on was first released online on December 2, 2014 through Dek-D.com's platform for writers. Even though the story is a spinoff of the author's previous novel My Accidental Love is You, the event of novel takes place three years prior to the My Accidental Love is You. The novel was published as a physical book in 2016, compiling 62 chapters into two volumes. A sequel story consisting of 22 chapters about Tharn and Type's life as a couple in their seventh year was published as one book. As of 2020, TharnType's Story has 216% ratings on its Dek-D official page with over 3.8 million total views.[4]
