This template exists to automatically apply {{db-g8}} when the intended target of the redirect (before correction of double redirects) no longer exists.
For example, it's relatively common that A is intended to redirect to B, but A actually redirects to X because B is itself a redirect to X. This template will tag the redirect for speedy deletion if B is deleted, even if X still exists.
The reasoning given for deletion suggest that G6 or G7 might also be used, since some admins insist on an overly strict definition of "dependent on" for G8.
If deletion is not currently needed, an mbox is displayed noting that the bot will likely re-create the redirect if it is deleted without also deleting the intended target.
Usage
{{User:AnomieBOT/Auto-G8|reason|target=Intended redirect target}}
The reason parameter is a code indicating the reason the redirect was created. Currently defined reasons are:
- endash: AnomieBOT's EnDashRedirectCreator task. When this reason is set, the target is checked against the current page name for possible maintenance.
- manual: Manually added for some reason.
- other: Some other reason not defined above.
For historical reasons, the reason defaults to "endash" if not specified.
