Invalid CSS in sig
editI noticed your sig seems to have invalid CSS, color:Maroon2, Maroon2 isn't a valid color in CSS. I don't think it's causing any real problems, but I thought I'd let you know. Gigs (talk) 18:18, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
WQA
editIn the instructions at the top of the WQA page, one of the (important) steps is to notify the user(s) you are reporting, by placing a {{subst:WQA-notice}} template on their talk page, so they don't have to hear about the discussion second hand, from a 3rd party. WuhWuzDat 18:25, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- Dear user, thank you for bringing this to my attention, as I must have missed the notice. Thank you again, IShadowed ✰ 18:28, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- I have tagged the WQA as 'Stuck', as it doesn't appear that WQA will be able to do any more than it already has done. It is up to you whether to let the matter rest for now and hope advice is taken, or to pursue the problem down another venue of dispute resolution. Whilst I am no expert, feel free to ask on my talk page if your unsure what to do if you wish to attempt to continue the dispute resolution process, or ask at the bottom of the current WQA thread, as I am sure someone will be able to advise you. The thread is not closed and is still open to be edited by anyone, so don't think the discussion is closed! Happy editing to you, --Taelus (talk) 17:03, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
CSD a7
editPleae remember to use it only for the types of articles specified. It specifically doe not cover buildings or artwork,. DGG ( talk ) 19:27, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- Source (Artwork) -- the one about a building was another editor--sorry about that. But I notice other admins have been removing some of your speedies--and, for that matter, upgrading some of your prods to speedies--an article like What to do in a boring lesson is almost always a speedy as vandalism (or sometimes empty) ; an assertion "Keith S. is an American video game composer who works for small video game companies. Most of his talents are not well know." is not a reasonable assertion of importance, when the Discography given consists of two works, one cancelled, and the other Release date unknown." Most of your work is excellent, but you sometimes have been going a little too fast. I see you use Twinkle, and though it certainly makes things easier -- i use it also -- it makes it very easy to go faster than desirable. And I find that after an hour or so of patrolling, ti's advisable to stop and do something else. I also find it helpful to re-read WP:Deletion policy and WP:CSD every few weeks as a reminder of exactly what they say, though I have been an admin here for over two 2 years now and deleted or helped delete over 10,000 articles. Speedy deletion declined: Endless Sporadic, An
editHello IShadowed, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Endless Sporadic, An - a page you tagged - because: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. CSD tagging
editJust a reminder, the G4 tag does not apply to Friendzconnect because it was not deleted via a deletion discussion. The page was previously deleted under G11 promotion. The proper tag here would be another G11. If you have any questions, feel free to message me on my talk page. Netalarmtalk 04:38, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Google Translate
editHello! It just came to my attention as I was working through the Articles for Translation page and poking through related articles... You appear to have run the Ko Jae-Wook page through Google translator, and the end result is almost as unintelligble to English readers as the original in Korean. Might I suggest not running pages through Google translate? As the Wikipedia:Translation project notes, "Machine translation, especially between unrelated languages (e.g. English and Japanese), produces very low quality results. Wikipedia consensus is that an unedited machine translation, left as a Wikipedia article, is worse than nothing." If you would like to flag a page for translation, the best option is to put Template:Notenglish on the page, and then follow the instructions on the template, and people will sort it out and process it from there. Thanks for your work on Wikipedia! Tehae (talk) 08:09, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

New Article Submission
editHi,
I recently made my first article, & it was rejected - reason "not suitable". any pointers as to why? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Phoenix_Comapny
It primarily regards an aspect of UK company law. Not the best writing granted, but it is a subject with a history (>20 years of practice), and is in common use in the UK with the directors of Ltd companies "phoenixing" them - taking the company into administration in order to re-establish the company minus some of the former company's liability.
The practice can be carried out quite legitimately - it's permitted by law to encourage enterprise by reducing the risk to entrepreneurs who create jobs and stimulate the economy. The flipside is that some less scrupulous directors abuse the system to run many businesses in succession, writing off liabilities while carrying assets over to a new enterprise.
Like I said, some pointers to where I'm going wrong would be good.
Cheers. GW —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.117.237 (talk) 20:34, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Bot-like UAA reports
editYou just posted a bunch of nonsensical reports at WP:UAA. Are you running an IRC bot on your account? Bots have to be approved, and they have to run as a separate account: see the Wikipedia:Bot policy page. rspεεr (talk) 02:22, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- No, I've been monitoring the red-listed (suspicious) usernames on #cvn-wp-en-newusers and reporting the ones that seems to defy policy. IShadowed ✰ 02:28, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- But the reports didn't even make sense. All your reports had the same strange formatting, and none of them were even violations of the username policy except possibly for "Fart boy 123 XXX", which was already listed. (I dealt with that username by asking him to change it -- being juvenile isn't a good reason for a block.) I mean, how does the word "Wiki" make a promotional username? What's wrong with "Th3fl0ri5t", "Deadtothisworld5586", or "Flickrboy"? The strange formatting and the reports of harmless names are why I assumed it was a bot going haywire. rspεεr (talk) 04:40, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- I just reported them because they were listed as disruptive usernames in the channel... apparently a bad idea. Sorry! IShadowed ✰ 04:42, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- I think the channel is running a bot that does some very simple pattern matching that flags things that might be problems. (I didn't even know there was such a channel -- isn't that duplicating a lot of effort with HBCNameWatcherBot?) The bot doesn't have common sense, but you do, so be sure to use it. rspεεr (talk) 04:46, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

A Little Help?
editThanks for doing this difficult job. I'm trying to create a page for Bob McConnell, my husband who's running for Congress. I checked similar pages (Scott Tipton, another candidate, John Salazar the incumbent) to make sure I was following format and neutrality. I was flagged for advertising or promotion as well as copyright infingement - I used his website as an external link (I thought). Frankly maybe this is user friendly but it took me hours and hours and I still can't get it right? Can you help? I would really appreciate it. Phylliscoletta (talk) 01:58, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
