India May is an American Registered Nurse, county death investigator for Chickasaw County, librarian, and political candidate[1] for District 58 of the Iowa House of Representatives. India May announced[2] her candidacy[3] on May 20, 2025. She is a member of the Democratic Party.

India sparked national attention when she shouted "people will die" at Senator Joni Ernst during a Town Hall[4] when the subject of Medicaid was being discussed. Joni Ernst's response of "we all are going to die" gained national attention, leading to creation of merchandise with the quote. Senator Ernst subsequently doubled down on the response in an Instagram post.
