  • Failed to parse (syntax error): {\displaystyle \ce{Fe^{2+} + H2O -> X\\2019-06-06}} renders wrongly. It seems to me that X^{2+} is detected as "unusual" and the fallback logic (omitting all spaces) is applied.
  • Failed to parse (syntax error): {\displaystyle \ce{Fe^2+ + H2O -> X\\2019-06-06}} works fine. I double checked, X^{2+} is definitely covered by the strict simplified mhchem grammar.
