This script detects potentially promotional words and displays them in a bar near the top. The words are also highlighted in the article. Clicking on one of the words in the bar at the top scrolls to the first occurrence of that word (in the middle of the viewport). You can report false positives (word combinations that are not promotional like "outstanding warrant").

Installation

First install User:Enterprisey/script-installer, then come back to this page and click the giant blue "Install" button in the infobox on the right.

Or install it manually by adding the below code to your Special:MyPage/common.js file:

Usage

Click on the words in the top bar to scroll to the first occurrence of that word.

Functionality

  • Displays a bar at the top of the article, listing the detected keywords.
  • Highlights detected promotional words with a yellow background and red border within the article text.
  • Makes the words in the top bar clickable, scrolling to their first occurrence in the article.
  • Added "Report false positive" link to allow users to report incorrect detections.
  • Added confirmation dialog explaining false positive criteria before reporting.

Limitations

  • Not all potentially promotional words are promotional in all contexts.
