Qari Shafiqur Rehman Qasmi (born 23 December 1958) is an Indian Islamic scholar, public speaker, and religious leader. He is the founder of Jamia Madaniyyah in Meerut and is associated with the Darul Qaza under the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He is active in social, educational, and religious circles, particularly in Western Uttar Pradesh.
Early life and education
editQasmi was born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He began his religious studies at various seminaries including Madrasa Jama Masjid (Amroha), Shahi Madrasa (Moradabad), and Mazahir Uloom (Saharanpur). He graduated from Darul Uloom Deoband in 1979, where he also served as secretary of its student body, Jamiat-ut-Tulaba. He is a certified Hafiz, 'Alim, and Mufti.
Career
editAfter graduation, Qasmi joined Darul Uloom Deoband as a teacher and later headed its publications department. He founded the monthly Urdu journal Aina-e-Darul Uloom and played an active role in institutional affairs. He later returned to Meerut and established Jamia Madaniyyah, as well as a local Darul Qaza affiliated with the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He continues to guide multiple educational and legal Islamic initiatives.
