John Simpson Guthrie (12 June 1908 – 6 March 1998) was a major general in the United States Army who commanded the 7th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War.
The son of an Army officer, Guthrie was appointed to the United States Military Academy in 1926. Graduating with the class of 1930, Guthrie was commissioned as a second lieutenant of (branch here).
