John Hersey Michaelis (20 August 1912 – 31 October 1985) was a general in the United States Army who served as the commander of United Nations Command in Korea from 1969 to 1972.
The son of an Army officer, Michaelis enlisted in the Army in 1931. After being appointed to the United States Military Academy in 1932,
Earning an appointment to the United States Military Academy in 1932, Michaelis graduated in 1936, earning a commission as a second lieutenant of infantry.
