![]() | Evaluate an article
Complete your article evaluation below. Here are the key aspects to consider: Lead sectionA good lead section defines the topic and provides a concise overview. A reader who just wants to identify the topic can read the first sentence. A reader who wants a very brief overview of the most important things about it can read the first paragraph. A reader who wants a quick overview can read the whole lead section.
ContentA good Wikipedia article should cover all the important aspects of a topic, without putting too much weight on one part while neglecting another.
Tone and BalanceWikipedia articles should be written from a neutral point of view; if there are substantial differences of interpretation or controversies among published, reliable sources, those views should be described as fairly as possible.
Sources and ReferencesA Wikipedia article should be based on the best sources available for the topic at hand. When possible, this means academic and peer-reviewed publications or scholarly books.
Organization and writing qualityThe writing should be clear and professional, the content should be organized sensibly into sections.
Images and Media
Talk page discussionThe article's talk page — and any discussions among other Wikipedia editors that have been taking place there — can be a useful window into the state of an article, and might help you focus on important aspects that you didn't think of.
Overall impressions

editWhy you have chosen this article to evaluate?
editI chose this article because it is mostly likely one of the first places people come to to learn about discrimination in line with colorism.
Evaluate the article
editLead Section
The lead section begins with a strong introduction. It concisely states everything in the table of contents and subsequent article.
Content
This article answers yes to all these questions, with one exception: in the Africa section, not much is outlined or detailed about discrimination in South Africa or many other countries without a majority African American population. I noted this on the Talk page.
Tone and Balance
The tone of the article is neutral and informative.
Sources and References
All the source links work when clicked on, and are from reliable organizations. Most of them are academic papers from reputable sources, such as news outlets and universities.
Organization and Writing Quality
The writing quality uses strong academic discourse and is well-organized. It reads smoothly and is easy to navigate.
Images and Media
The article does not have images.
Talk Page Discussion
The talk page is not very full, but has several suggestions on topics to add detail to and improve. The article is rated start-class and is part of the discrimination, human rights, and ethnic groups. It does not discuss topics with opinion, rather, it yields plain facts.
Overall Impressions
The article is solid as is, save for a few edits to the aforementioned section. The article is strong in its organization, and perhaps could be stronger if graphics of studies and statistics were included as a visual aid. The article is developed -- but definitely has room for growth. Discussing real-world implications and experiences may perhaps be more impactful than just numbers alone.
